    Highlights of 2005

Alright, these kinda threads have been done a million times, but i am after a particular highlight of mine from season '05.

I have mentioned before about the bit where LRT managed to smother two kicks off the mark in a row... then managed to tackle the bloke and get holding the ball... followed by a standing O from our section of the crowd.

Although insignificant, it was one of my more favoured highlights from the regular season. However, i cannot for the life of me remember who we were playing at the time...

Have tried looking on the afl content on the highlight reels without success.

Does anyone know? I'm sure someone will!

I remember it happening, but I can't think who it was against either. I assume that it was an SCG game, cos I went to all the Melb games and don't remember it happening, but I could be wrong. I have a feeling it was in the last 4-5 weeks of the season though, but I could be wrong on any or all counts

Against the Kangas at the SCG. The unfortunate player was Urchin (his name not his appalling effort).

        Urch.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

But wasn't it brilliant to see LRT getting so much better every week

Yeah... exactly, i just felt kinda super proud for him. I was one of them who quietly groaned whenever he got the ball in the first couple of rounds... not one of them who booed etc.

But when he did that, it was kinda proof that he has arrived as a player, not to mention the mark he took vs 2 roos players in the same quarter...

Lets hope he keeps going next year... it'll be something to see!

I was a bit like that even when he played in the Melbourne game at the "dome", but then I watched the tape of it the next afternoon and saw some of the things that he did that you don't always pick up live.

I think the biggest "problem" he has is that not coming froma footy background he has to think about what to do, with others they just do those things naturally, but I think it is slowly to be second nature to him.

I do admire the fearless way he goes for his marks though, it really is impressive.

who would have thought that LRT would have a premiership medallion after his shocking out on the full against geelong

i was so damn proud of him in the GF as most people were saying "who the ******** is this bloke"???

he improved out of sight - thanks SOS and coaching staff

In the GF it seemed like there were two of him out there, and they were both playing the game of their lives

Perhaps his biggest "advantage" in the grand final is that not coming from a footy background he wasnt overawed by the occation. Contrast MOL who would have been dreaming about that day since he was 3 years old.
