What seats are best at the SCG

G'day everyone, beinga Southern Swans supporter who hasn't been able to get to the SCG to see them play at home, I am after some suggestions as to what people consider to be the best stands or bays to view Swans games from. Next year my wife, baby and I are planning to get to at least one game in Sydney and wanted to get some "local" knowledge as to the lay of the land.

With a baby the Brewongle Stand is your best bet as it doesnt get the sun during Day games and the facilities are good. As well it has the best view of any part of the ground and with your first time at the SCG you want it to be memborable.

If your needing flights and accomodation Sydney Swans Travel can package everything together for you including game tickets. I use them when I travel to Melbourne

Brewongle.

Each of the stands offer something different.

The Brewongle and O'Reilly Stands offer the best spots for watching the game IMO.

Brewongle: On the western side of the ground, so you don't get sun in your eyes, as discussed here. You are above the players race. Very similar to the TV coverage angle.

O'Reilly: Centre wing on the eastern side. You will get the sun later in the game unless you are in the top 2 rows (trust me on this one). The O'Reilly concourse is not as deep as the Brewongle side so you are closer to the action.

Churchill and Bradman stands offer good spots to view the game from the half-forward flanks.

MA Noble is behind the goals.

All the stand seating is pretty good, but the pick of the bunch will be between the Brewongle/Churchill/O'Reilly.

Def. Brewongle, to see the whole ground. If you get up in the Churchill or Bradman/Noble you have a fantastic view of one end but yeah, the other end, not so good... Brewongle will give you both fairly good... thats why they cost the most!

With child I would say Noble behind the posts. I have bought my two daughters to the football since they were in their prams. Now Why Noble? Well on the ground level one section back (behind the posts) if you have a pram you can sit on the side (taking up 5 seats) and the pram can sit nicely in the corner and you won't have people trying to walk past you etc. Now depending how far back you may cut some of the ground to the left of you off (but not much).

Churchill you can't see the scoreboard-screen. Only the little scoreboard on the bradman.

Compare to MCG:

O'Reilley = Southern Stand (wing only).
Churchill = Ponsford.
Brewongle = Members.
Bradman = Southern Stand (inside 50m & behind goals).
Other stands (eg Messenger & Walters) are crap, and offer no cover (sun/rain).

I wouldn't bother with O'Reilley for a day game but would be great for a night game.

At the GF we were in the very back row of the Southern stand..couldn't see either of the screens!!! I've since found out how it ended

On another tack...are there general admission areas like the MCG or do you have to book seats???

GA gets you on the SCG hill, under the scoreboard (behind the main walkway). Reasonable atmosphere (I've watched a few games from there back when I didn't have a reserved membership) but not the best spot if you want to watch the game.
