It just goes to show ch9 protecting the NRL in Sydney. There is no point in complaining to ch9, they don't give a toss.

Why can't the AFL see what ch9 is doing to AFL in nsw/qld and don't give them the next AFL rights. Or is Andrew "i'm the CEO" Dementriou living in a ch9 house?

I have been fed up with what ch9 has done to AFL in NSW/QLD!

The problem is also that 7 is trying to screw over the AFL and everyone else after losing the rights last time...and ten couldn't cover a piss up in a brewery. IMO 9 has the best coverage...but I take on board what you are saying abpout how they treat the AFL in NSW/QLD, having lived in Townsville in the 90's the coverage by 7 up there sucked, similar to what you are still experiencing with 9/10 these days.

How do we the little people win?

It really sucked. I only made it to half time and had to go to bed I was so tired. Ch9 will never get TV rights behaving like that.

            3am? Oh, you're all soft!
I wouldn't dream of leaving a game half way through, even though I knew the score...

But even then the commentary was of poor standard, the camerawork at the beginning was pathetic and the interviewer/boundary(sideline) reporter always seemed to grab a player at the wrong time.
Bring back Marty the Irish commentator. The thing I like about the International Rules Series is that you get a window onto another country's sporting culture and history. When you have dimwits like Dwayne "Captain Cliche" Russell and Gary "Sacked coach" Lyon, it is just like watching an AFL match, which to me defies the purpose of the series at all.

It is pleasing to read not one person slagging the series and concept out this year. I was happy that Kevin Sheedy got the mod as coach, as with him comes not only passion for the concept but the ability to think outside the square (he seriously considered using an A League goalkeeper for example).

I still find it somewhat strange to only half-cheer for the overs and then go mental for 'goals'. It makes for some strange 3am viewing.

I look forward to watching the next game with interest. It isn't really much like AFL footy at all. But is it interesting to watch? Is it fast? Is it passionate? Is it physical? Yes, on all counts.

Cheer loud you lot who go next week. I was planning to go. But the small distraction of a SWans Premiership has kind of put paid to that, I'm afraid.

                I LOVE IT.

How good were the Aussies skills with the round ball this compared to previous year's?They were hitting targets and only sprayed it a couple of times.

You make me realise how lucky I am to live in Tassie compared to the northern states as our telecast was direct but at 9.30,only due to daylight saving. It was great curled up watching with the RAIN pouring down on thetin roof cheering for Amon,Ryan and Nick. I loved being able to have McLeod on my team.

Tuesday.. get me a ticket on that Morris bandwagon. If we are the cheer squad does that make us Morris Dancers?

You have to remember that 7 was just the same in the northern states when they had the rights. So unless the AFL can set conditions on when Friday nights are to be televised we may end up with the same problem no matter who is televising the game up there.

My main gripe is that the 7/C7 deal showed Friday night footy live (on C7) and the 9,10,foxfooty setup only shows Friday night games at 9.30. So the northern states have clearly gone backwards in this respect.

I was stating that complaining to ch9 is like hitting your head against a brick wall.

You should complain to the AFL.

It must have improved from when I was in QLD. In those days (mid 90's) you were lucky if the replay of the Friday night game started before midnight.

But we didn't have pay TV so I don't know what time that was on.
