Swans the word
A last, final, ultimate, conclusive word on the Sydney Swans before the subject is dropped until next September. Nell Cooper, a 76-year-old Swans fanatic, last week kept her pledge to get a tattoo to celebrate Sydney's AFL championship, even though some fellow supporters had backed down due to the pain factor. "I told them it won't be as painful as waiting 72 years," she said. "Nothing could be as painful as that."
At the Crossbones tattoo parlour in the Melbourne suburb of Melton, where Mrs Cooper had her inkwork done, Greg Hines reckons he and his staff have done at least a dozen victory Swans tattoos in recent weeks. "One bloke got one right up the side of his leg," Hines said.
