    2MMM Grand Final call

Hi all. Luffy has done us proud and has managed to get the recording of the entire 2MMM call of the Grand Final (despite the fact that he was overseas at the time). He got it to me yesterday.

I have posted the whole game on my website (as RWO doesn't have the bandwidth). Feel free to download it. There are five parts:

    Q1
    Q2
    1/2 time commentary
    Q3
    Q4

The whole lot is about 31M as highly compressed MP3. Because it is so large, can I ask a favour?

Firstly, can you please download rather than listen to it on line?

Secondly, if you do download it, can you share copies with your friends, rather than everyone going back to the site?

And Des has the whole recording too - and hopes to find time to assemble a highlights package that should fit on RWO. Meanwhile, the link to the MP3 files is on the RHS of:

That's the problem with modern day medicine - there's no more natural selection of the species.
No wonder there's so many Collingwood fans.

Thanks very much David and Luffy!!! Excellent work.

Sorry you couldn't be there Troy

I went ahead and downloaded the files, b/c I have a broadband connection at home....

I think in keeping with what Go Swannies was saying, could anyone who has downloaded it please post in here so others know who to ask for the call without having to get it themselves. Maybe a few people with fast internet download it, people will have alternative places they can get it from.

The whole thing is 3 hours so I'm happy to burn the lot onto a CD in MP3 format (either as a data CD or an Mp3 audio CD) and give to anyone who wants it.

But the quality sounds much better than I thought given the low bit rate!

        I've downloaded it too.

It sounds pretty good from what I listened to already

Thank you Luffy, Thank you David. I've had a good day, finally got an excuse to go town on business and picked up the three call DVD at HMV Broadway (can't get it out west) now I have the Sydney radio call. David, I guess it's my shout!

Hi all, I've got it too.

Bittorrent is made for this kind of file distribution, but unfortunately does not have wide acceptance.

I've never tried to distribute something via bittorrent before,
but there's a first time for everything. Try here.

You'll need a bittorrent client (eg Azureus, requires java)

I'll just bump this for those who check RWO at lunchtime.

Can those who read this thread add a comment so it stays towards the top of the list, especially now when most people are only visiting occasionally?

The BitTorrent idea is not a bad one actually. Would certainly reduce the strain on GS's bandwidth. I'll download and seed it tonight when I get home, then GS can remove the file from his server. 31 MB x 100 users is a heck of a lot of downloads.

Here is a brief introduction to it - http://www.bittorrent.com/introduction.html

Basically it sort of works like most p2p software, like kazaa, gnutella etc, except that there is no central server coordinating the downloads.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

                    Des,

You should get the disks today.

I'll leave the sound files on my website anyway for the less computer literate. My bandwidth could cope with 100 downloads but much over that would be a problem.

Between my site, bitstream and people sharing the files we should be okay and everyone should be able to get the 2MMM call.

Who is going to weave it into the DVD?

I love the bit where they say straight after the siren that Nicksy has already left the box to be with his fellow players. Gotta keep your priorities.

I just listened to the call. Bawled at the end (again). Actually, I think it was the most I've cried since the day itself.

Favourite quote - after the game when one of the guys tried to keep a lid on things by hinting the victory parade would have to wait until after the NRL grand final, this was the response:

"You are joking! Sydney have just won the flag and you're not going to have a parade until the stupid blokes with no necks finish their footy"

Still, over a month on, it's really hard not to get emotional when you hear Sam Kekovich singing LRT's praises, and how terrific he was, and when they were calling Roosy and Hall lifting the cup.

It was a terrific call, I think because they've called the Swans every week and followed the journey, their familiarity with the players grew, and it showed in the amount of passion in their call.

Cheers for the downloads! It'll be an interesting synchronsing excercise listening to cd and watching the video.. ie if you put the mp3s down to cd without any space in between and watch the video straight thru, it should work, shudnit? am i dreaming
