IMHO,Sydney has the bigger bandwagon however the Swans bandwagon really got going after 96.
It pisses me off more when people get off the bandwagon when the wheels do get wobbly.I've seen it happen at the Swans between 2000-02 and i am witnessing it now with my beloved Sydney Roosters in the NRL.
If the Swans struggle next season,i think we will still have a decent supporter base here in Sydney even if some of the bandwagoners disappear.
Rugby League has a much worse bandwagon s and if the West Tigers do happen to struggle in 2006,i'd be susprised if all their bandwagon supporters do stick around.Well done Craig Bolton for getting the co- captaincy in 2008.

Sydney probably does have more newer supporters, but that base of newcomers is about 10 years old now so I dont see why anyone supporting the team should criticize them.
I grew up in Melbourne supporting the Swans, I stood in the rain on the old concrete steps and watched South lose game after game, season after season. What I dont recall is large crowds of support, is this because we were losing and Mebourne based fans fell off the "bandwagon".
For 10 years I have lived in Sydney and crowds of 30000+ at the SCG in a rugby league/union state is common,I have converted quite a few rugby league supporters over to full club membership of the Swans.
New supporters/members should be welcomed not criticized because they have seen the light!

2003 afl prelim 70,000 swans...very home game r2 at SCG against freo in 2004 drew 21,000 (thats almost 50,000 fans MIA)
sydney fc drew 28,000 for their first a-league game , within 10 weeks they managed to get only 9,000 against newcastle( almost 17,000 MIA)
sydney kings vs razorbacks game at SUPERDOME last year, drew a record 14,000..mind you the following kings home game got 3100, and the razrobacks got 2100 ( nearly 10,000 fans MIA)2004 - SUBIACO
2005 - SYDNEY
2006 - SUBIACO
2007 - ?????

Up here we need the 4WD to get across the bridge and the bullbars are really handy when shopping in Pymble. But the traffic throught the harbour tunnel is a horror when the Swannies are playing at the SCG on a Sunday afternoon.Comment

Out of each crop of bandwagoneers there's a group that will stick.
Happened with me during the Eddleston era and now its at the stage where we'll never go back to the sparse crowds of the early nineties. The more bandwagons which roll out, the more true believers we end up with.Leo Barry, You Star!Comment
