    Web site defamation

    Read a little snippet in the Herald Sun this morning that the AFL lawyers are looking at an interstate web site regarding whether a past AFL champion and a leading media figure have possibly been defamed.

    Hope it isn't us.

    Any scoops on this one, moderators?

              I read something the other day on a bigfooty board and I thought to myself, "Can they say that and not get sued?"

              It was about extra-marital affairs and was stating it as fact rather as alleged.

              Very shaky ground I thought,but you would think bigfooty would know what they are on about, the moderators that is, not a lot of the posters.

                  I think this is a good reminder for everyone that what we say on these boards is public comment, and we are liable for anything that breaks the law. Sydfan's suggestion is a good one - everybody should take another look at the guidelines to refresh their memories.

                      Have just been to find the thread and the posts have gone so I think this has been a wake up call to a lot of people.
