    Multiple Captains

What a stupid idea multiple captains is. The team needs one captain per season. One person to make the decisions and do all the stuff that a captain does. Roos should have more confidence in one of his number and appoint one, rather than four or so.

We need more captains in 2006. Having back, mid-field and forward captains does not recognise the need for representation of left and right hand side of the ground. So we need not 3, but 6 captains. And, if they want to rotate, then they will need to have a pool of at least three captains for each of the 6 zones. So we need 18 captains. The four players on the interchange should also be represented, although the bench captain will need to rotate throughout the game from one of the 18 field captains.

Surely they need a captain of the hacks?

Indeed, but is it a good idea for a captain to wear two hats. History shows that this can cause problems. Captain Hack should captain from the sidelines.

What the finals showed everyone is that Brett Kirk IS the on field leader of the Swans whether he officially has the title of captain or not.
