I paid my membership - Bring on 2006!

I've just paid my membership online, which is far easier than ringing Teleswans. I have also upgraded to Premiership club. I tried to do it by phone but got too confused with talking to a computer, ( even though it had Brett Kirk's voice) so I got on the internet and was done in about 1 minute. Has anyone else paid theirs this quick or are people waiting till closer to the deadline?

After 10 weeks on the sidelines, I just started work again two weeks ago ... It is now time to make a dent in payments that have fallen behind, if only to save those poor Australian Financial companies some money on their phone bills from India. Which reminds me, I have nothing but the Highest praise for Virgin Credit (They ARE the best in my current situation). But I will be buying my memberships before the season proper, come hell or high water ...

I paid both the Melbourne membership(premiership) and Sydney memberships( Full club country membership so I can sit in the members with friends) as soon as I received them. Paying on the internet is the easiest. I always pay them immediately as a hangover form the days when they were capped and I was always terrified my forms would be lost and we couldn't be members! The premiership club was the best gamble I have ever taken - and it paid off after only 2 years.

The cap still exists - it just hasn't been reached in recent years.

It will be interesting to see how much membership grows this year.

I also paid my Sydney membership last weekend. It has already appeared on my CC bill. I'll pay my Vic membership on Sunday.

Is the Premiership Club capped? I imagine there will be a lot of members looking to upgrade this year, myself included.

Yes it is (it HAS to be due to AFL ticket policies) - see the membership brochure for the exact number.

It is capped at 4,000, which is the minimum entitlement of tickets a grand final participating club receives from the AFL.

While the clubs do end up getting more it would be very dangerous for the Swans to guarantee a ticket when they are not in a position to until the allocation is made. So the 4,000 limit applies.

Another reason why I paid mine straight away.

The membership categories that have Guaranteed Grand Final Ticket allocations are:

Premiership Club - Capped at 4500
Sydneysider - Capped at 500 members
Redbacks - Capped at 300 members

                    (Source: Sydney Membership brochure)

So I agree the Swans would be at risk if they only got the absolute minimun allocation from the AFL.

Thought about it, but I'd rather get it out of the way all at once.
