ok, i'd like some suggestions from people to find out what is the best way i can get to the Geelong game on Sunday.
basically i finish work at Newport at 11:00am, which is about an hour and 15 away from the SCG. i was thinking i'd just drive in and use the parking they have at Moore Park...... but then i read this (i didnt realise there was a game at the SFS)
Transport information for this weekend
Huge crowds are expected to attend two concurrent footy games being played at the Moore Park sporting precinct on Sunday 18 May. Transport NSW is urging fans planning to attend the Swans / Geelong and Roosters / Knights matches to leave the car at home and catch public transport.
Patrons should plan to get to the ground at least two hours before kick-off to ensure they miss none of the action, a Transport NSW spokesman said.
?Parking is extremely limited and fans are strongly advised not to drive,? the spokesman said.
?A range of transport options are available to get crowds to Moore Park, including a number of convenient Park ?n? Rides, regular shuttle buses from Central, and scheduled Sydney Bus services.
?The limited parking that is available in the Moore Park area is expected to be full and closed early in the day.
?Fans who bring their cars risk missing the game ? it?s as simple as that.?
The Moore Park sporting precinct will host around 55,000 spectators at the SCG and Aussie Stadium.
?There will be heavy traffic on all roads around Moore Park, so motorists not planning to attend Moore Park or Fox should avoid the area.
?You can plan ahead by phoning the Transport Infoline on 131500, or by visiting our website at www.131500.com.au.?
The Swans will take on the Geelong Cats at the SCG at 1.10pm, while the Roosters will battle the Knights at Aussie Stadium at 3pm.
Apart from pre-game entertainment, there is shopping, entertainment and dining facilities at Fox Studios right next to Moore Park, allowing those who arrive early to enjoy themselves before the footy action.
For further transport information, call the Transport Infoline on 131 500 or visit the Transport Infoline website www.131500.com.au.
