With Leo being from Deniliquin, Brett being from Albury and Barry being from Broadford, it even made the Win regional news in North Central Victoria, the locals are understandably very proud of their boysLast edited by goswannie14; 16 December 2005, 05:48 PM.Does God believe in Atheists?Comment

If that's what it takes to win a flag then make all 22 players captains and we can win the next 7!!Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

One would have been my preference but if that's the way they want to do it then so be it. I wont lose any sleep over it.
Congrats to Bolts also for inclusion into the leadership group."My theory is that the universe is made out of stupidity because it's more plentiful than hydrogen" - Frank ZappaComment

Clearly in a sport where there are 36 players and three umpires (not to mention a veritable swarm of runners and coaches on the field at various times), one 'captain' is insufficient.
For those traditionalists out there, consider just how much impact a single 'captain' can have in a game. Lets assume that its difficult to have impact during the play in any case, since there are so many around the ball. But then what about during stoppages? Even after a goal is kicked, there is never enough time to rally the troops, yell out a few instructions to the players around you and enter the fray again. In fact it always concerned me that Bazza was down at FF when we were struggling down back. Many even called Schauble (and later Leo) the 'general' down the back.
So now its formalised. Each captain will have responsibilities for various zones and various tasks:
Leo will look after the backs, and naturally take it upon himself to create drive from the back or stop the biggest key forward. As a captain his role in this is publicly supported by the club and players.
Kirk will continue to be a role model in the midfield, bark out instructions at set plays and bounces to the midfield group, help control who goes in at the bounce, and be the inspirational spokesman at huddles. This he does well naturally, but it is now an official role so carries more weight.
Bazza will be the public face of the Swans, and motivate through acts of brilliance and pure aggression. He will marshall the forward structure and be an imposing role model around the club. He can do this naturally, but now the club expects it of him and everyone will benefit more from it.
Other things to consider: with three captains if one is having a bad day the whole team wont suffer, since there are others to support them; with three the media committments are split; with three the other teams cant 'target' one of our captains to get a psychological edge.
I think the issues of walking down the race and tossing the coin are completely irrelevant. Our Greatest Moment:

Oh god forbid we question anything... someone is sure to come up with a rationalisation (no matter how stretched to make it work)...
There have always been 36 players...
What do three umpires have to do with it...
(BTW - only the captain is meant to be able to speak to the umpires - surely all three can't be allowed to)Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.
