I also notice that you changed your wording from "hold in awe" to "hold in high regard", the two phrases are completely different. I hold every GF in high regard, but to hold one in awe is usually reserved for supporters of the winning team.

My apologies this time Deano My excuse is that I am suffering from "post baby daughter birth nappy changing sleep deprivation"...hence I missed the ...also some stupid Collingwood supporter has been making snide remarks about Swans supporters.

Next time I will make sure that my eyes are propped open with tooth picks if I am reading one of your posts, then I may see the

              No apologies necessary.

Now that I think about it the 1945 grand final is probably better than 1970 anyways...

There's a great story on it here.

                  It's a little Carlton-centric, so my apologies.

In fact, 1945 was one of the most violent finals series in memory according to this article from afl.com.au

                    Again, apologies for Carlton-centricity.

Bob Chitty is still an inspiration at Princes Park to this very day.

My dad was at that game down on the boundary. Has hated Carlton ever since. He was near one old lady and all she said for the entire game was "Chitty you dirty thing". Dad still laments that loss, saying that we had the far better side that year but were foolishly suckered into the fight and continued to fight rather than going back to play football.
