Maybe we'll get Kennelly for a little longer...

According to this article, Tadhg has not yet decided whether to return to Ireland at the end of the year or to extend his contract.

The top Aussie Rules players are estimated to earn over a million Australian dollars a year.
The journalist is guilty of misleading the readership here.

Has there ever been a player who has earned $1m in a year purely from his football contract, other than possibly Kouta a year or so ago, which was due to massive backloading of contracts.

Even with endorsements / TV money etc added in, there can barely be two or three players in the comp whose earnings come close to $1m at the moment.

And of course, much as we love him, Kennelly is nowhere near this league in terms of earnings potential.

The figure may not be accurate Liz, but the point is hardly invalid. He still earns a hell of a lot more than 99.99999999% of people in the GAA and for playing football. The attraction of it is still there.

If he comes back to Ireland he has to maintain a strict training and playing regime AND go to work for a normal days wages (depending obviously on what he does).

I presume he won't be a spark or a plumber, but may well work his Da's pub, which will not exactly line his pockets with silver and is hard work alongside rigourous training and playing.

If he wants an all-Ireland medal in his arse pocket, he'd be best going home sooner rather than later, I don't see Kerry maintaining their #2 spot in the next few years.

So you are saying that the top Aussie Rules players are estimated to earn over a million Australian dollars a year?
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

So can anyone confirm that Tadgh has returned from bereavement leave and fronted up in LA?

I read somewhere (Irish Independent, I think) that he was flying to LA from Ireland today, actually. I'm clueless on timezones, but maybe that lands him in LA in time to watch the match (or part thereof..)?

that's because the GAA is amateur, not a professional league.
they don't own the pub anymore anyway.
tigs is studying teaching so i'm thinking that won't go down the drain maybe?

the attraction of chiching maybe there but the attraction of following his dad & brother may outweigh for someone who's a family man like that boy.
+ he gets enough media attention alone by jst being here, let alone if he goes back.
Kerry'll use the 'prodigal son' light.
(hehe sorry that's the cynical marketing brain of mine..)

And you can't find nothing at all,
If there was nothing there all along.

They never did sticky that thread, did they?

Even my mother (also a Swans fan) has trouble with his name. Last time she actually spelled it 'Tihge'. I even tried teaching her Cow's "HG Nelson/HG Wells" method!

Back on topic for a minute, there's little point in speculating whether or not Tadhg will stay with the Swans longer at this stage - he's just been through a tough time, and he probably hasn't made up his mind himself yet.
