    Bookies snub Swans for 2006....

    ... pre season cup.

Gee, I'm crushed. I was sure we'd win it this year. <rollseyes>

We should be ranked at least in the bottom 8, considering our approach to the pre-season the past few years.

I'd be more willing to bet that we finish last ie beaten first round by the biggest margin, such is the clubs historical attitude to the pre season comp.

Eagles are favourites to win it?!? Should be favourites to be runners-up.

Should guarantee another good season then.

Now if only Mike Sheahan and co have us to finish in the bottom 8 and I'll start saving money for my GF trip!

I'd never back the Swans in the pre-season and regardless, $10 is ridiculously short odds for a club which treats it as nothing more than a training run.

Precisely! The Swans make no secret of the fact they use the pre-season games to blood youngsters etc, and that their sole focus is on ensuring the senior side is 100% prepared for Rd1. Anyone who reads anything into results in the cup is either naive or dumb!

Gwynne said Sydney had never been successful in the pre-season format, was unlikely to be anywhere near wound up coming off a premiership and faced a tough draw.

"They are not a young team, so it's hard to know how many of their top players they will rest," Gwynne said.
                      Reasonable enough view.
