    Kennelly Article

Article on the GAA website yesterday.

"Tadhg Kennelly is expected to sign a new contract with the Sydney Swans before the end of the 2006 season, ending speculation that the Kerry native might return to Gaelic football in the near future..."

Has a few quotes about Kennelly from Roos which are interesting

Still doesn't fill me with confidence that he will stay. Heck this article can't distinguish if Quigley is staying or going.

I understand the pull of going back to Ireland that Tadhg must have, but that said I think that the bond with his 21 other 'Bloods' in winning the premiership won't be hard to break either. Tough decision either way. Blood might be thicker than water, but so are the Bloods!

that said, going back to Ireland doesn't necessarily mean breaking this 'bond'.

Unless of course the Swans go back-to-back. In my opinion, the one downside of that would be Tadhg would really have nothing left to prove, and we would definitely see him leave.

While that might hold some truth, maybe winning the Brownlow and matching the feat of Jimmy Stynes in doing so might also keep him here. Still at the end of the day its his call.

Great news if true and adds a few years to my prediction of March 2003 that Tadhg will win a Brownlow medal before he's finished.

This bloke will rip em' apart this year as he realises the enormous talent that has been gradually coming to the surface.

Who can forget his blistering game saving run at the end of the GF when everyone else was absolutely knackered.

is this belief that Tadhg's going to get a Brownlow based on the idea that he may eventually move into a midfield position, or that he can get it even as a halfback?

i don't really reckon he could win it without moving a bit up the field or being given more freedom to run forward into a scoring position. exciting football when he does that.

He won't (very unlikely) win a brownlow from the half back flank.

They have gradually been grooming him for the midfield. If they give him the time in the middle this year I think we will have a clear indication of how good he can get. ATM he is a better than average player that would probably be a walk up starter at any club, and he gets votes (8 last year), but he is a fair way from being a brownlow medalist. If he develops as a midfielder in 2006 and hangs around, I'd put $20 on him for 2007.

And in realtion to the other thread about the herald sun article, what a crack up. Stupid, but reassuring at the same time, good to see him in reasonably good spirits. (Poor club officials, didn't anyone tell Tadhg that the AFL was super touchy about Footballers and bad behaviour with women, lol)
