After the Port match the teams the swans play usually have a home match the week before except for Brisbane who play Collingwood in Melbourne in round 19 and Melbourne who play West Coast in round 21 (Sydney travel to the MCG to play Melbourne which could help come the finals).

Of the matches I haven't mentioned the swans play 5 matches at home and are capable of winning them all but every team has to lose at some time.

The swans have 3 of the toughest away games remaining this season against Adelaide in Adelaide, Port in Adelaide and Brisbane in Qld.

If we beat Port and made it 10-3... the streak could go as far as round 22!!!!

I'm not willing to get THAT far ahead...

Hehe, the Port travel from Tas is stretching it a bit. That would be a shorter trip from Launceston to Adelaide than Sydney to Adelaide.

Look, lets not count the rounds till they have hatched, my point is that we must win these away games to be truly feared.

However, Skells, you have been most astute in picking our opponents lead up games and struggles before we meet them...most impressive!

The whole comp has a bye the week before we play Port so the travel the round before will be irrelevant.

Also, Roos has been warning us that we'll be up and down. The current run of form arrived suddenly at 3/4 time in the Melbourne match and can disappear as quickly. Let's enjoy it while it lasts, but not get too harsh on the team if they start to struggle in a week or two. Will only take one ordinary performance for the confidence to start to dissipate.

And if we win our next 40 games the streak could go over 40 games...

BTW - if the streak did stop at 8, then that would equal Sydney's record, which was in 1996. As Sth Melb, we recorded 12 in a row three times, but not since 1935 have we managed 8 except for '96.

hard to win 8 in a row in the modern game.
              Brisbane and Essendon both managed 20 in recent years, and Brisbane had 10 in '99. Carlton 18 in '95 and 13 in '00, Hawthorn 8 in '01, 'Roos 11 in '98, 10 in '99, and 8 in '99, Port 8 in '02, StKilda 9 in '97, and West Coast 11 in '96.

So I agree it's difficult, but occasionally teams can do it out of nowhere these days. Of those dozen above, only 5 were by premiership teams of that year.

but it would need to go BEYOND round 22 under that scenario Charlie ... or else it would all be for naught. I've started thinking of GF tickets. If none of you will hope and aspire ... I WILL. Ever the optimist!

lets not get too far ahead of ourselves, we had 2 awesome weeks but don;t take it for granted that it will mean a finals spot. its still an extremely tough road. grand final at this stage?? pie in the sky. i mean it'd be great, but if you expect too much you are going to be dissappointed. put things in perspective.

we got beaten by freo (albeit at subiaco) by 26 pts.

the next week we got thrashed by Adelaide at home,

then the lowly hawthorn humiliated us at the MCG.

we were within a scratch of losing to the unimpressive Melbourne side, and we beat a very up and down, over-rated collingwood team.

everyone said coming into the match brisbane were due for a loss. they recently drew to the kangaroos and only just won against the cats, so they are not worldbeaters like everyone is making out this year.

sure we won a couple of important games, but lets not get carried away!! we also lost to very ordinary teams. the weeks ahead will be tougher than a lot of you are making out.

I think you are under-rating what we have done, all you can do is win, and in the past 4 weeks we have done that.

Fremantle was always going to be tough over there, and i thought we played pretty good footy that night.
IMO we should've beaten the crows, we had much of the play in the second half, but didn't take our chances. We only got beaten by 27 pts, I would hardly call that a thrashing. There was no excuses against Hawthorn, they were horrible that particular night.

The last quarter against the dees was really good, which I think was the start of the run that we are now enjoying.
I agree that Collingwood are overrated, however we did absolutely out-class them for the majority of the contest, and that's all you can do. As for Brisbane, who cares if people think they were due for a loss, they had still been winning and we beat them on their merits.

We weren't great against the Cats, but we won by 39 points, which normally separates the good sides from the bad ones, that you win the games you "should" win even when you don't play that well.

Why does the run have to stop?

We can win any game we want to, if they continue to play the way they are at the moment.

Last week was an interesting test of our depth with Micky & Saddo out and Willo having little ground time. Remember, we played the bottom side and a top 8 side may very well have blitzed us in the second half with our shortage of quality players.

Geelong just didn't have the class to go on with it when they challenged us, and a better side probably would have been much closer at half time.

The test will come soon if we suffer too many injuries.

Still, a win is a win, is a win, is a win.

Never fancy us against the tigers, just dont match up well. Even without ottens they are too tall for us and generally bang it in long and beat us in contested marks

I thought, we usually match up pretty well against the Tiger. Their forward line used to be one-dimensional with no crumbers. Once we got the ball to the ground, we would be on top. Of course, that was under Eade.
