Things I like about OUR President

    His way with words!

Meanwhile Swans chairman Richard Colless yesterday said of McGuire's decision to leave Melbourne and the Magpies for Nine's top job: "It definitely shows that Eddie is a closet Swans fan."

Although there is no vacancy on the Swans board now, Mr Colless hinted they might have the same clause Labor used to get Peter Garret a seat.

I am actually from the pro-Eddie camp.

If he wants to get involved in Swans / AFL footy in NSW then it can only be a good thing for our club.

He's a proven deal-maker and has turned Collingwood into a financial powerhouse so if in some way he gets a few more corporates on board with their fat chequebooks then Eddie should be welcomed to Sydney with open arms.

The annual June match shows Eddie is serious about promoting the code in Sydney.

Like hell - he just wants there to be as much attention on his team as possible - by only having one other game on that weekend, he gets that in spades. If he had his way, the game would be played in Melbourne.

        I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

Can't agree Hammo that Eddie is pro-NSW footy. He only cares about what happens North of the border in the context of presenting the location allowance as an unfair benefit and providing unfair advantage.

He's inflamed and encouraged the belief that the AFL bought Sydney the premiership. Get a hold of the every footy show during the finals series and particularly the grand final one to see how Eddie really feels about the Swans and NSW footy.

I will agree that he is great for Collingwood. They are lucky to have a president with so many avenues available for
          self-promotion and public comment.

The rest of the league should be so lucky (personally I'd rather have Sir Richard).

              Pfft!
              What Mike B says.

The once a year game is more about promoting CFC to the Sydney market than it is about promoting AFL throughout NSW.

                I'm afraid I can't agree either Hammo.

I have a grudging respect for E**ie - he is single minded and driven when he comes to his chosen cause.

However he is also blinkered and I do not believe that he has an altruristic wish to promote the code as a whole in cases where direct benefits to CFC are unclear.

Still ... it's all about opinions!

Maybe now that Eddie will be living in the most expensive city in Australia he'll change his mind about the cost of living allowance.

As far as Collingwood goes, I am sure Eddie realises the size of Sydney market and the potential revenue it could one day produce for the Wobbles.

That's why they're currently doing their community camp in Western Sydney as they have done so for 3 or 4 years.

I'd see that as an attempt to grow and promote the game - sure there are benefits for Collingwood but in the end the whole game benefits.

I actually couldn't care less if kids adopt the Wobbles, Swans or some other team - the more kids playing and following the great game the better.

Is he entitled to a cost of living allowance?????

                      Will he take it up?
Looking out for good omens which can bring the Swans the 2007 premiership

You better hope not, because Eddie has stated numous times that he supports the Swans have the COL allowence because there is a large different between the COL in Melbourne and Sydney.

That's why they're currently doing their community camp in Western Sydney as they have done so for 3 or 4 years.
They've done it so their players don't have to go to a regional area and live away from the 5 star luxary they are use to. These camps have appealed to only their fans already living in Sydney, not the potental AFL fans in Western Sydney.

                          Actually I think there is . . .

Colless may be thinking it'd be better to have GreesyEddie inside the swans nest pissing-out than outside pissing in?

In theory the latter, but I wouldn't trust GreesyEddie as far as I could throw him off the top deck of the Bradman . . . .

Now that's what I'd call an entertaining half-time extravaganza?

Surely the 'Ricky Barham rule' has to apply to ALL employees of the club???

Cant stand the man. Whether or not he is associated with Collingwood. In fact, I think I did not hate Collingwood UNTIL Eddie became the President.
