It was good for a number of reasons just to win today, considering our previous history in such games.
But Geelong are way down on confidence, played without their best (by a mile) player, and were a fairly average side to begin with anyway.
There's no doubt that Magic, Saddington, Fixter, probably even Seymour (when fit) will come in over the next few weeks for Powell, Stevens, Sundqvist amd LRT etc. That is unless any of them player out of their skins in the next week or two, which is unlikely if they're coming off the bench.
But that's fine.
One of my main criticisms of the past few years is that we wasted 1-2 game 'windows' where senior players had s/t injuries by playing the likes of Bennett, Brockman etc etc.
Wheras an Essendon would have given one of their recent draftees a couple of games exposure/experience before sending them back to the VFL with a bit of a taste and therefore (hopefully) the hunger to get back ASAP.
We shouldn't say too much though - our injury list is fairly short, and we don't want to jinx it by starting to say 'how will we fit all these guys into the team' ...
