i wanna see lrt at chb not chf in the long run, however all good CHBs should be able to play CHF... he looked very capable in the ruck thats for sure! very strong hands, agility and great leap = great KPP (plus ruck)

powell shows a lot of hardness even for his lack of weight... he layed some good bumps on some cats players... i think he will be excellent as the tall running link man out of defense as well having the hard nut attitude as well... not to mention his great hands

i love schneider... i think he wasnt playing quite upto to his normal standard... i think this has something to do with how the cats were going about their game early on, ie going for the man and not the ball... this roughed him up a bit i think... he did get pretty drilled in one tackle even though he wasnt holding the ball...

i was a bit disappointed in sunny's outing, but he definitely has the ability to be a great player

stevens did well, early on... shows that he is a good depth player... might end up like a bradshaw, ie bit of a pinch hitter

I see LRT as a "Roos model player". In the mould that Roosy played his games - about the same size...... trained by Roosy - key position player, If he is given enough time to get some confidence he will do Ok......, had a good start. I reckon that his kicking will improve as he plays more games. His first kick for goal, he was probably numb. Nerves would have has a big part. Once he feels that he belongs, lookout.

Sniper - Schnider and High flying Powell - things are looking better than was expected.... Not mentioning the F word yet, but getting closer.....

May only be a 1 - 2 year redevelopment plan not 4 - 6 years.....

Robert Walls set up Brisbane and Leigh Mathews walked in.... history show that to be a good move..... and has Rocket set up Swans up and Roosy walked in???? Hope so!

I firmly believe that the different style (Player confidence) is the thing that has worked. Change is a good as a holiday Don't get too complicated...... KISS priciple (Keep It Simple Swannies)

Definitely. This is probably a product of his rugby union background. As a second-rower (or lock, depending on where you're from), he needed a good vertical jump to compete in the lineouts and to catch the ball from the kick-off.

As a former second-rower myself, I've often wondered how a player from that position would go playing AFL. I always thought that there were some very transferable skills -- marking, leaping and ball-tapping. Tackle-making and breaking are bonus tools that LRT is yet to display. But where handballing and bouncing can be learned fairly quickly, it's going to take a lot longer for him to master kicking. Maybe Tighe could show him how to master the 'rabbit' in only two years?

If the LRT experiment works, it sets a very exciting precedent for us. Imagine how much deeper our Sydney talent pool will be if we can sucessfully convert League and Union players? You'd think that it wouldn't be hard to find some tall, strong, fast and aggressive KP players from the hordes of no-necks out there.

Eales is a Maroon though . Speaking of converts, I think a league winger would make good wingman or flanker in AFL. Can catch the ball, kick the ball and good pace. A hooker in League could convert to a centreman in AFL too. Nice, soft hand and can play it tough.

A few years back, there was a Raper's experience but I have not heard anything about the guy since.

I was wondering about Dean Raper myself -- be interested to see if he stuck at it. Maybe Troy Garner knows?

If we did get a League convert, it'd just about complete the set -- soccer (Goodes), rugby union and gaelic football!
