    Dermot Brereton

Anyone listen to his comments on last Sunday's game. The whole time he constantly says drop the knee into them, make it worth while. Take a real dig at them, punch him - take him right out etc. Wants a big fight or agro.

    What is his problem!

In reading Paul K's book I read he missed the first seven games of his one season in Sydney - because he was suspended for seven weeks. Then playes 6 or seven and out for a further 7 or 8 weeks.

Wish he didn't do our games - the commentary of all foxtel is hopeless.

What is right with Foxtel. !!!! All they ever report on in Fox Footy News etc
is Collingwood, Essendon, Schwab, Sheedy, Surly Daniher.
Never get any reports on Sydney.
All their shows are around any team but us.
Only had Kennelly on On the Couch.

This thread is about Dermot Brereton - that is what I wrote about Plugger46??

          Derm's perm

I do find Dermie's biffo comments a bit predicatable and other people seem to think he uses the same comments week-in, week out but I reckon he does provide some useful insights. He's also clued up on the Swans players and always picks out what the new guys are up to, which must be a boost for them when they watch the replay of their first game. It was him who picked out magic's sneaking round to improve the angle. He also made the comment about rugby - that there wasn't much point playing the game they played in heaven if you weren't going there.

After one of the goals that Scheiderman kicked against the lions (I think) you could just hear him start to say that it was a seriously classy goal and we cut away to some insurance company sponsored replay of a classic goal from 10 years ago.

Better Dermie than some of those idiots Channel 7 used to have from Adelaide and Perth who could name the starting line-up for the SANFL/WAFL reserve grade preliminary finals, but only ever mastered the names of a handful of Swans players.

I reckon he is good, footy is so sanitised now that its good that he encourages something out of the ordinary.

I listened to sundays game(4 times now) and Dermie never says 'Drop the knees", so i reckon you are taking a bit of artistic licence.

Dermie was in the best 5 i have ever seen and was THE toughest player(Kel is up there). His commentary is entertaining at least.

As for Foxtel, yeah i reckon get rid of it, i loved seeing one match on free to air at 1am every week.

dermie is a smart assed turkey who has to 'try' and be clever.I'll never forgive his half hearted performance when he 'played' for us...no, sorry,'played' for our money. Now he pretends that he never was a Swan.
AND , did you see he tried to be funny with Cressa implying he was very ugly......Cressa responded beautifully by saying that he missed Dermie being at the club 'because he (cressa) was then only the second ugliest Swan'.......I love that man.

Dermie played for a club that has a had a reputation over the years for always having a thug or 2 in their side. I don't need to name a current coach and a now aging ex Hawthorn player and ex Premiership coach and club mouth piece. Plus one Don Scott who was more than just tough.

I doubt whether Dermie's attitude has changed much to the close tactics of his day. Can't say that I felt sorry for him when got cleaned up in the GF. Still there is no getting away from the fact that he was a very talented footballer and match winner and seems to have pretty good knowledge of the game and I don't mind him as a commentator. Seems to have changed his repertoire a bit this season.

Dermie seems desperate to prove what a "blokey" type he is.
I reckon he's fragile about his masculinity because he's got the voice of a girl.
