    Adam Schneider

Too all those Schneider fans out there. I have been reading through all the posts with rumors about him. Just thought I might clarify a few. I can say for absolutely certainty that he did play senior(first grade) footy from 14. I know this because I was in the under 14s team that he left behind to play in the seniors. One must bear in mind that the standard of footy in that area is not exactly the VFL but he did do very well. He had 3 years in the firsts 14,15 and 16 before moving onto bigger and better things and in these three years he got three premierships including one where he was extremely unlucky not to get best on ground in the grandfinal.
Also i saw post that said that he was one of the most benched plays in the afl and that hopefully his fitness will increase so he can play more. However he is infact one of the fittest in the club( no.2 I have heard although i am not certain). I can personally vouch for the fact that he is in pretty good shape because I played a game of cricket with him just after christmas in very dry 35degree plus heat where he bowled 30 overs straight!!! The scariest thing was that he was taken off not because he was tired but just to give everyone else a go. He wasnt even puffing! I am not saying he isnt benched alot i am just saying it cant be because of lack of condition.
    Any thoughts or comments?

At about the same time as adam went to sydney i headed overseas and spend 90% of my time there so i havent seen him play afl yet which is extremely frustrating, especially considering i was a die hard swans fan for years before he started there. Obviously he would have improved greatly in the two years he has been there but the schneider i know is more the freak then the gutsy player i hear about now. He is great if there is a goal opportunity, just one of those freaks that always seen to drill their snap shots etc. Therefore i would imagine he is extremely valuable in the pocket. I believe he could develop into a real matchwinner in time and take tremendous pressure off hall. Unlike when lockett and hall (two big men) were together adam and hall are extremely different players (rover and big man) and could really complement each other rather then get in each others road. This would mean when one has a bad day the other could still kick 4 or 5 and win the game.
However putting adam in the centre is a real possibility and will have to be tried at some time. His speed and fitness demand it. Also as he becomes more experienced his ball getting ability will show through and allow him to kick his 2,3 or 4 goals a game from the midfield.
So to answer your question yes i think he would go very well in the midfield but i think it is a while away yet. Dont be surprised if he distinguishes himself too much as a goal sneak in the mean time to allow such a move in the future.
But to be honest i really dont know. I havent spoken to him since christmas and obviously things have changed a great deal for him since then. He really could start in the midfield tomorrow for all i know.
      Cheers
