    Pathetic.

    That's the only word.

That's not the same side that beat Brisbane. Can't be.

Not really worth rushing home from the junior footy to watch it afterall.

At least the Sunbury Lions U11 and 12's won.

They really looked flat from the opening bounce. I think there was a period of about 10 min in the first term where I thought we were looking a lot better than the 'Roos but other than that it was a fairly ordinary performance.

I don't think experience is an issue, despite the expectation that it will be raised as an excuse. Our ave games per player was 83 against the 'Roos 96. We had 7 players with <50 games and they had 8. They had 10 players with >100 games and we had 9.

The losses of Saddington, O'Loughlin and Cresswell were obviously huge, but I think the guys on the field could certainly have done better.

Hopefully they can bounce back against the Tigers next week, who should hopefully be tired after their tough game in Subi.

What was pathetic was the fact only C.Bolton and Schauble had to mark 4 North talls. What was pathetic was keeping LRT, Stevens and Powell away from the defence when clearly they were needed down back. What was pathetic was the fact Nicks and Warfe are getting a game. What is pathetic is the fact the way we lined up today wasn't anything like we have in the past few weeks.

Roos changed things around and wouldn't change them again when it clearly was needed. O'Keefe was too slow and Hall never got into the game because he was mainly at FF instead of CHF.

Lets hope O'Loughlin, Saddington and Cresswell are back for next week otherwise we will be 5-5

Yeah, I don't understand why LRT, Stevens or Powell did not have a shot in the backline when we struggle to match up on their talls.

22 clangers to 9 up to about half time was what really cost us.

Yes, I agree, we were flat and fumbled and overused the ball when we got it.

But by the same token, Norff's game plan involved stopping our running game by killing the ball at every opportunity. We only ever looked good in the last quarter (in my opinion) when we were able to start running again.

As teams work this out (ie our running game), Roos will have to figure out a way of countering it.

I felt Stevens did OK late in the match across half back. Why Roos didn't put him there earlier????? We clearly lacked height in the first half when the game was there for the taken and yet 3 talls sat on the bench and Warfe was given his 43175943765th chance to stuff up.

Yes, good point. The commentators noted that Laidley had watched our recent games and observed how much latitude our midfield had, and worked on shutting it down. Obviously this was pretty effective and our guys probably don't have the class to break free from that sort of stranglehold.

Running is irrelevant when you don't play in front, drop marks and kick or handball(Rowan!) to opposition players in space.

No Cressy, Micky or Saddo really showed our lack of depth. The centre bounces were a car accident and the other swans all stopped to look. A really rat-@@@@ performance by a lot of the boys.

And I think I'm about to turn on my hero, Mr Nicks.

Sure, it was a disappointing performance, but we were beaten by a team that played pretty well and were able to counter our game plan. The team has had a huge past month and it was inevitable that they would hit a down spot. That's what happens to most mid-table teams. Will be interesting to see how quickly they can recover their confidence - because that was clearly down today. Players who's skills have been excellent over recent weeks were suddenly kicking straight to the opposition and they weren't running as we know they can.

While not using it as an excuse, we did have 3 of our best players out, and we should know that we don't have the depth to cover that. Cresswell was a big loss - after all we haven't lost a game this season with him playing. Nor have we won one without him. His toughness in the midfield would have made a huge difference.

On the positive side, I thought Schneider had a super game - he never stopped trying and was slightly unlucky not to snare a couple more goals. Maxfield was also pretty good, and Kennelly's kicking continues to delight.

Goodes, on the other hand, needs to slow down and remember he does know how to do the basics. He worked exceptionally hard and got a lot of the ball but made some very costly errors, ones that he's too good a player to be satisfied with.

my sentiments exactly, bolton should be on a small forward as he doesnt have the weight to mix it with the big boys... the backline shouldve consisted of the options of schauble, lrt, powell and then bolton i dont know if its incompetence as far as roosy goes or if he has other ideas...
