    The passion is gone...

Yesterdays game was lifeless. Dull. Boring.

They've taken the 'Roos game out of Sydney, and with it has gone the only genuine rivalry that the Swans have had in recent times. It's hard to hate them when it's just another game. On a smaller scale, the 'Roos games were like SA Showdowns or WA Derbies... there was genuine antipathy towards a team by the crowd. But in Canberra... out of sight, out of mind.

    Sad to see.
    We hate Anthony Rocca
    We hate Shannon Grant too
    We hate scumbag Gaspar
    But Leo WE LOVE YOU!

My absolute hatred for the Roos left the day Carey left. I hated him with a passion, not the Roos.

Now I actually admire their struggle to survive and still play pretty competitive football.

We should now look to bury Eddie's mob when they come to town, for Eddie's continuing campaign against the northern states.

    I don't hate Collingwood, I hate McChins.

Nah, just joking, I really hate Collingwood as well.

There was plenty of passion amomg the spectators where I was sitting . The Roos were very happy with the crowd and promotion and wish to make Roos v Swans at Manuka a regular feature .

BBB has a point. Once they racked off out of Sydney and lost Captain Pantsdown, there was a lot to like about North. A gutsier team you will struggle to find anywhere. Don't get me wrong, I still love to beat them, but there's less of that rage now than before.

The atmosphere in general on sunday was a bit lost though. I reckon we would have had the old style roo booing in Sydney - big psychological boost to the team. (not that I condone that ridiculous promo campaign)

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

Why Eddie doesn't like Brisbane or Sydney:

Collingwood's last 9 games vs Brisbane:
            L L W L L L L L L

Collingwood's last 11 games vs Sydney:
            L W L L W L L L L L L

I've little doubt we'll be making an annual pilgramage down to Manuka from now on. It's the one game that is likely to pull a close to capacity crowd for the Roos there and the AFL obviously wants to support their efforts there (as indeed they should).

I do hope, however, that we get our SCG game back against them as well, at least in more years than we don't. It always seems to have a great atmosphere- and not only because of recent results!

Yes, it is a good day out. And a good chance to have a weekend away from the big smoke as well.

I'm expecting that North will be tickled pink that they have found a ground on which they can beat us on. They have beaten us there over the last 2 years, and generally put in a decent effort there.

The capacity is still so small. And the atmosphere more akin to a country footy match than the big time AFL.

But to ignore Canberra (and southern NSW who can get to the ACT far more easily than they can either Sydney or Melbourne) is plain wrong.

If North were fair dinkum, they'd bite the bullet and become Canberra's team period. I mean, the "Canberra Kangaroos" has a nice ring to it. Then THEY would be receiving the assistance both we and the Lions get re draft concessions etc etc.

Still Jeff Wells hit the nail on the head. The ground looks like a bad VFA ground. Except at Williamstown the food doesn't run out at half-time!

Never really hated Norf, as a kid they were always my second team.

Hated the way they went about their business in Sydney, more than anything else, now they have gone, and realised the folly of their ways, like BBB, I can only continue to admire them.

If North want to keep playing in Canberra, surely they will have to invest something in TV infrastructure - the coverage was shocking this weekend.

Part of the problem was that they seemed to have no elevated cameras, so viewers rarely got an idea of what was going on more then 20 metres from the ball. There also seemed to be poor choice in camera shots - either inexperienced camera-work, poor editing or fewer cameras to choose from than normal. Even as a fan I found it hard to watch (quite apart from us losing) - if you were a casual viewer you wouldn't have stuck with it.

I agree with BBB and Penga. I use to bag jason mccartney ah la Pantsman diaries (3 chances at playing in a flag winning team and missed them all) but I'll give him a standing ovation when he makes it back on the pitch.

Now that North are aiming at Canberra rather than Sydney, and with the aftermath of Carey, they more like poor country cousins than rivals ;-)

I agree re: no longer hating north. they're not my fave team, but I have respect for them now. Not their supporters, but most definitely the team itself now. The biggest return to AFL will be that of Jason McCartney, and anyone who gives him **** will earn himself a nice shiner or two at the very least.

Btw, is it just me being a tad sensitive or did anyone find the article in the Bladder abt that a tad on the nose, so to speak?
