Am I the only one here who thinks that 'Fearless' has been really off the boil this season?

A lot of people get stuck into Leo, Warfe, Matthews and to a lesser degree Jude. But all these players have had a far greater impact on games that Fosdike so far. Jude, Tadgh and Ben at least seem to be trying to take 'that extra step' and fill the half-back/midfield void left by the retirements. But Fosdike's efforts look much the same as they've always been -- erratic at best.

Somehow Fosdike escapes general criticism on this board. But IMO if he doesn't improve in the 2nd half of this season, he'll be looking pretty tasty as trade bait come October.

I'm a bit unsure on how to analyse Fosdike's performance this season. He has been quite erratic in form and has not improved as much as some of the other players, but then again I think he was a bit further ahead than some of them anyway.

He still makes a number of silly errors, his kicking can at times be wayward and lack penetration, and he fumbles too much.

However, I think he has the talent, it just needs to be drawn out of him more.

Still, for the rest of this season I would put him on a watchlist to get a better idea if he really is taking that next step.

Agree on this Red, Fossie whilst he has been good, he can and should be aiming higher. With Cressa departing at the end of the year, Fossie should be looking to take the step into Cressa's shoes. At this stage the step is looking huge, and I personally don't think he will make it. If he doesn't, then he is trade bait, simple as that. The choice is his

Depends what other clubs are offering for him. Other clubs may offer a second round draft pick, but if I were the Swans I'd want more than that.

I've seen all the games so far, and been to all the Melbourne ones. And Nick has played ok in a few of them, his best probably being against Geelong. But where others will at least have a dip in every game, Fozzy just hasn't looked that interested -- week in, week out.

I'm not saying he's not a good player. But in a development year, where all players will be assessed (among other things) for their desire to succeed, Nick probably needs to show a bit more of that if he wants to be part of future plans.

100 % correct Red. Fumbling Fosdike is no where near the player people think he is.

I agree - I thought that he was great towards the end of last year (IIRC ), but has been nowhere near that this year.

Think your being a bit rough on Fosdike Red, i was very critical of him last year and the year before, thought he was never going to make it.

IMO he has been alright this year.

Fosdike seems to be very much a confidence player. When things are going well he takes risks, finds space, and looks like he can play football.

When he's not so confident, he plays conservatively, looks to just negate his opponent, and doesn't go in search of the ball. That's when he gets the fumbles, and goes 'missing' for long spells.

I'd almost suggest he's only holding down his spot at the moment because of all the injuries. If our squad was fully fit, I reckon he'd be competing with, perhaps, Fixter or Kirk for the 22nd spot - a contest he'd probably lose. That would be a shame, because I think he's got the right mix of skills - he just needs a bit more self-belief, or determination, or some of whatever it was that Paul Kelly had.

BTW does this mean that Fosdike is now on the official RWO hitlist? And when we get 22 names on that list (probably next week if we lose to Richmond) can we toss them all in and get a new team?
