    v Essendon crowd

Could the SA game against Essendon get a poor crowd because its on a long weekend ?

Its going to be swamped by the State of Origin for media coverage, and having just done the ring around of my footy comrades to organise tickets, there are quite a few who have other things on that weekend.

I'll take their place in the crowd.

Will be up for the weekend and attending the game.

Unfortunately it means I have to bring along a few bloody SNDon supporters, but hopefully we can arrest our recent poor record against the filth, and I for once can walk away from a Sydney SNDon game as a winner. (Please lord it is but a simple request)

I read in the local Central Coast Express today, that State Rail will be having trackwork on the northern lines that long weekend.

There will be no trains running between Strathfield and Brisbane for 3 days.

Buses will replace trains and I suppose the only good thing about it is that anyone getting on between Newcastle and Hornsby will not have to get off the bus until Strathfield.

So factor in a bit of extra time in your travel.

The reason there was such a poor crowd against Geelong was that most of the vacant seats belonged to Swans members with reserved seating. The 40,000 plus crowds against the Cats are a memory now.

I think it should be as large as last years (40,000) because the Bombers have a large following in Sydney.

The following week, the Bulldogs game at the SCG goes up against the Wallabies at Stadium Australia. That will drop the crowd

even more relevant is that it clashes with live TV of the Wallabies v Ireland match from Perth

The Essendon game is usually the biggest crowd in Sydney any season, and this year should be as well. Especially if the Swans can bit the boys from Tiger-YELLOW_AND_BLAND this week there'll be plenty of interest. There's plenty of Bomber fans in Sydney, and the long weekend will encourage more Victorians to make the trip.
Hopefully we'll get fine weather. Haven't had that for an Essendon game up here for many a long year.
