I agree that a $2m handout would be unfair on the other clubs, esp the struggling melbourne teams - but Colless has come out and said that no formal applications have been made to the AFL (I have no reason to doubt him, I'm not yet a card-carrying member of the Colless-hating Faction )

It might be that we need a further $2m to get by, but that does not need to come from the AFL. We'll manage, I reckon.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

I have a few questons about our budget:

Firstly, how many years did we commit to SA?

Secondly, we knew at the end of last year that it was a disaster, financially speaking to take the games to SA, so why are we backing up?

Thirdly, will the people of Western Sydney come out to more games at SA just because they hear we are going broke bringing the game to them, Mountain to Mohommed?

Fourthly, if the Westies are getting to SA at a stretch, does this mean that they are likely to pull out all stops and start to help us fill the SCG?

The reality is that SA or Telstra or whatever you call it is indeed Sydney's white elephant and the State Government has leaned on/sold the Swans on the idea to use these facilities because it is making a mockery of them out there being used 3 times a year by rugby league and union.

My mail on this is that the $250k was indeed a secret donation by the NSW Governement as hush money/compensation for taking a bullet. Bob Carr is just going to write it off as part of the Oasis (the Leb Vegas of Liverpool) losses of which there are plenty (rumours will not be substantiated).

er...actually that would be 22 games - 15 games (one against each opponent) plus 7 more games against the other teams in your half of the ladder.

Nice idea which appeals to the egalitarian in me.

However I prefer the idea of 14 team comp, no pre season and play each other twice.

The Geelong Bulldogs and the Carlton Kangaroos should both be tough opponents in years to come.
