    The young'uns

Since we were so unfairly robbed of our forum over the weekend to wax lyrically about what was - IMO - our best win of the season thus far given the missing personnel, there's only been limited comments on the game itself.

Thought I would make some comments about the contributions made by some of our younger players - nothing overly profound but worth putting down in B&W.

Schneider - was tagged for most of the game by Rogers, a player who has, in previous seasons, been given the job of quietening players like Kelly. Was very interested to see how he'd cope and was very pleasantly surprised by the end. He finished up with 13 possessions (probably a little higher than his average, though he did get more game time than normal) and as per normal, most of them were pretty constructive.

Sunny - didn't spend much time on the ground but his fourth quarter was as good as the third quarter he played against the Dees at the end of last season. Real shame he didn't nail that final kick on goal because he deserved to get one. Delivered a couple of beauties into the forward line and doesn't seem to be afraid to tackle.

LRT - that paddling of the ball in front of the goal square before handballing off to Fossie for the final goal was superb. Looks like he has great skills below the knees as well as being a fine mark.

And on the subject of the younger players, check out this article from the Herald Sun.

I think the article raises many valid points

The kids have done the business this year. I would think we all would be hard pressed to fault any of them for the way they have played.

Sundqvist looks the likely type and looks like he will be brought on slowly. Good signs
    Once was, now elsewhere

It was interesting on Schneider, being properly tagged for the first time. I've been waiting to see when it would happen, and thought it might have happened earlier. I've been waiting to see people's comments too. I noticed he fumbled a bit more and was slightly rushed more than normal, however overall I think he coped pretty well with the close attention.

Sunny really looks like a good prospect, as does LRT. Ah, it's nice to have a good array of youngsters - first I've EVER said that in nearly 30 years of following them!!

Rod Carter - you've done a fine job Tilt!!

That is probably the best defender (hopefully, until we play brissy at year end) schneider will get all year. He handled it very well and actually played differently.

With Micky O and Cressa back that luxury will not come for opposing teams too often.

As usual with youngsters it is consistency and thus far he is doing a more than adequate job week in week out.
