Good news that the Dustbin will be out on Sat night (didn't know garbage was collected on weekends but you learn something new every day!!! ).

Misiti is past his best IMHO, but will not complain that he's not there, he's a class player and you can never totally write them off. Hird has also been mentioned as not playing on Sat night, but then again, Essendon have RARELY had the named 22 be the 22 that take the field this season.

      I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

Hird is definitely out, near 100% on that.

We should not pay them this much respect. We beat Brisbane,a much better team than Essendon. If we are keeping to our game, we should win.

but Essendon beat the Weagles considered by many to be in great form.

Defeating my own argument is the fact many considered Sydney woodenspooners, ....... I just think it will be close until the last 15 minutes and hopefully the boys kick on to win by 20 odd points

I hope we beat them to within an inch of their lives. We must pay them back for letting us into the 96 grand final (the pain that caused!). Good news is that this is the third week in a row the boys have been on free to air in Perth. How long will the television streak last?

Arguments based on "we beat such-and-such who are better than (or beat) another, means we should beat the other" never work, even though they appear to make sense.

You missed my point here NMWBloods. The feelings I got amongst people here is a bit of nerve and uneasy going toward the game. This might be the scar of the previous our losses. The fact remained is that Essendon is no where near what they were in the past. The best team now is Brisbane. We have beaten Brisbane and thus we could beat anyone else. That is the confidence I want to see from the team as well as from the supporters. The fact that we are still talking with great relief about Fletcher not playing, convinces me that we are not there yet.

I think any game involving us(swans) I feel uneasy the fact is that in the past just as we looked like the real deal we have let ourseleves down. I hope now with a new coach and a younger team that this will change.

                          Spoken like a true fan.

I went down to see the Collingwood game, and I swear, people were LEAVING the ground, and I refused to believe we had the game in hand.

I think we are seeing this change in culture with withs over the grandfinalists and then backing it up against teams we should win against in geelong and richmond (excusing the kangaroos).
I believe with the injection of freshness around the place now the culture is definately changing.

I agree totally. Winning clubs have belief...belief they can come back from a deficit, that they ARE good enough to take down their opponents.

This year reminds me of '96 a bit. Don't freak...I'm not getting carried away about GF appearances etc.. But there are similarities. The Swans haven't been as discounted in the lead up to a season since that year. Probably we've been OVERESTIMATING their potential since then.

But we were totally written off this year. No expectations. I mean none. Same in '96. And just like in '96 - when we beat Carlton and the Roos away - we've had some amazing results against highly favoured final 8 contenders.
