    Crowd at Telstra Stadium

Just noticed these comments on the SMH website today. Anyone got any ideas on what the crowd will be? I would not be able to control my emotions if it was a crowd of 65,000 + demonstrating that the people of Sydney are right behind us in these troubled times. Heres hoping Sydnesiders get right behind us and we have a sellout. Imagine the Syyddnnneeeyyyy chant with 75,000 all in sync.

Meanwhile, Swans membership manager Paul Grzanka said yesterday that from Monday through to Thursday this week the Swans had surpassed tickets sold for the corresponding days leading into all four previous games at Stadium Australia.

"Obviously we are delighted with this, however, at the same time it doesn't necessarily mean a record crowd, due to a combination of factors which will impact on the overall attendance," Grzanka said.

"Some of those factors include a decline in Swans membership, a drop in corporate hospitality, and also uncertainty over the numbers of Telstra Stadium members attending."

I've been waiting for that day since they first proposed the idea of reconfiguring the ground for AFL. My dream is a top-2 finish one year, with two home finals in a row - we all saw what perochialism can do for a big home town team like Collingwood last year.

    Baby steps, though.

I think realists will be saying that 40-45 000 would be a good result. I'm more optimistic, but don't stress if that's all we get. A BIG factor will be the weather. The 20-30 000 Newbies to the game we'd need to push up to the record might not be too keen if it's wet.

Presently we hold the record for the highest non-Victorian attendance at around 54 000. That was an awesome night, but it only whetted my appetite. If we get close to that again, I'll be pumped, but I'd only be satisfied if we topped that.

60 000 - now THAT'S something worth aiming for. I'd be amazed if we did it in a home-and-away game though.

If we break the record, I think Kudos should be given to Colless and co for choosing to release the financial news this week.
