Came into the ground at half time of the reserves game.

Powell was certainly outstanding, should be in the seniors next week. he took a ripper of a mark, quite similar to the one against Geelong. But the thing that impresses me is his hardness at the ball, and he is very quick over a short distance. Would slot in nicely on a half back flank.

Stevens and Dempster played at FB and CHB respectively and did OK. Hunt was at FF and Malceski and Crawford were also up forward. McVeigh found quite a bit of it, but there were occasions he was outworked physically by his opponent so he needs improvement in that area. Meiklejohn dominated when he was in the ruck.

Saw no sign of Saddington, Fixter or Seymour though.

This one surprises me somewhat. He's one player I'd thought the club would be grooming for a backline KPP.

I really like Powell - he's got a lot of mongrel in him.

Can take a grab and can run.

Reminds me of a young Glen Archer.

He will be vital to our defence for many years to come

It was No 34 but not Hunt actually - No 7 also played

I only really saw the last quarter and a bit... McVeigh has a lot of class but as mentioned before he will need to put on a bit of weight or he will get smashed in the big time. Scotty Stevens was dominating in defence - why oh why does he go into his shell at senior level? I saw a couple of good things from Crawford, Bevan and Malceski too (and Meiklejohn was going really well in the ruck). The Canberra clubs are quite physical from what I've seen, and I reckon it's decent preparation.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

I just assumed it was Hunt, he seemed the right height and build. No 7 was the backup ruckman, it took me a while to realise that Seymour hadn't grown 10cm and become a left footer. I guess that No 44 wasn't Declan O'Mahoney either?

                  Guessing not.

Agreed Des Canberra is a more competitive comp - more physical players - much better standard than SFL which was a bit of a joke really.

Most of the Canberra sides seems to have ex AFL or ex AFL listed players in the side.

Good to see that sharp shooting at goal isn't restricted to the senior team!

I know a fair few come through from the Rams when they have left overs or arent playing, but i guess the rest must be SFL based
