With a bit of luck we could be 2nd on the ladder after next weeks games, if the following results fall into place:

1) We beat dogs by about 40 points. (Go subi-curse!)
2) Brisbane beat West Coast at the gabba.
3) St Kilda beat Port in Tassie, by about 40 points.


Should be 3rd anyway baring major upsets.

We have been lucky injury wise this year 15 players have played every game. Considering the hard ball game the Swans have been playing I hope the run continues.

WC beating Briasbane is better for us long term. We CAN get to to FIRST!!!

Let's see how we go - a couple of injuries (touch wood) could really hurt us over the next few weeks. One home final would be a step in the right direction. We could just as easily lose against the doggies next week.

I would love to finish in the top four though.

For the top four sides though the season starts to get interesting around rnd 16 & 17 when you have to start settling your side for the finals. Interesting to see if Fixter and Doyle can get in the race for a spot by then (I think Seymour will struggle he was limping sat night).

Given we are a young side - going on history we can expect a slump.

One reason I give us hope is that it is hard to imagine Freo finishing there.

It's interesting, many people expect us to be like geelong last year - rebuilding with youngsters / have had a great start to the year / then fall away at the end - yet myself I dont think it will end that way fro us this year. Our side compared to geelong last year, our more mid age to old players are much more classy and talented than geelongs were, thus will hold us together a bit more and geelong had a younger side than we have last year.

This is the real difference between us and the rest this year. This is the kind of freakish run the Bombers had in 2000. They were unstoppable that year, and haven't looked a shade of themselves before or since.

It must end. But what's been really pleasing is that when we HAVE had the odd injury - even to key players like Doyle and Saddo - we've managed to cover it.

Those dreaming of a home final should get ready for some disappointment, though. Unless we come top two, we'll be away the first week, and then that bugger of an interstate bias will likely send us to Melbourne.

Even winning in the first week of the finals is no guarrantee of a home final in the second week unless you come top two.

1, 2, 5 and 6 get home finals in week 1. From what I understand, finals in the first 2 weeks can be banked/accrued, whatever you want to call it, so that over a 3 year period, the MCG has hosted 6 games in the first 2 weeks of the finals over those 3 years. So let's just wait and see what happens.

Obviously finishing top 2 would be ideal, but we're only halfway there. In terms of whats left, IMHO, missing the finals from here would be a dissapointing result, but when I look back to my expectations before Round 1, this season has been a success, regardless of what happens from here on in, as we've seen a bunch of kids get on the field and show that they are definitely up to scratch, and we've also seen some of our middle-tier players that were brought into question really lift and show that are integral parts of the club as we move forward.

You people sure sound confident. I just had a look at the fixture for the remaining games and I reckon we have a real tough run home. :-(

I remain hopeful but not confident as my hope has been seasoned by years of diappointment

If our good run with injuries continues and we win our "winable" games, by the time we get to those tough away games against the Crows & Lions the players will all want to play well to hold their spots for the finals.

agree that Fixter and Doyle will definatley come into the equation
when they are fit.

It will be good to see. Hopefully our young guns don't find the season too long, but Roos has been very smart and is "nursing" them along.

Brisbane & Port will be hard to dislodge from 1 & 2 but we are are chance IF things progress as they have been.
