    Great Article - Jeff Wells

Didn't this guy use to endlessly bag us
You don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! You sit them in the front row. You give them a hat! Toby Ziegler

Wow, that IS a positive article.

Maybe we could follow the North Melb example and to hell with anyone who thinks a financially struggling club can't play!!! They have 2 recent flags so it's not a bad model to follow as far as I'm concerned

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

The last paragraph says it all:

"How ironic, then, that the dreary stop-start rubbish served up in the name of rugby union in Australia's win over Ireland, is compromising this run-and-gun outfit. A real football team providing a great spectacle week after week."

And isn't he normally a rugby writer?

Dunno , but if so he displays an admirable sense of objectivity WRT what a great game that Australian Rules Football is.

I was reared on soccer .Whilst I still love the tension and excitement of the "world game" , I've seen plenty of dull contests.
Even a "bad" game of AFL leaves you with memorable moments.
Really , this game has it all.

That is unless you were at the St kilda v Sydney game at Colonial Stadium last year!! What a shocker!! The only thing memorable about that match was the way it finished - neither side deserved a win.

I thought Jeff Wells had been behind Sydney for a while.
Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

Jeff is originally a Melbournian who wrote for American Newspapers for a long time.

He has also written about his Grandfathers dismay at the death of Fitzroy, He has AFL in the blood I think.

Jeff Wells has always been supportine of the Swans . For a period he was highly critical of the style of play that was being used under Rocket's coaching . He was also less than happy the the Swans used to buy broken down hacks rather than developing young players . He was not alone on these two issues
