    Defence

Well our undersized defence has conceded the 3rd fewest points in the league (932). What a sensational effort. Well done boys.

Only Port (878) and Brisbane (900) are better and not by a whole lot.

    Thats a very interesting statistic.

When we do get the ball, Kennelly and Leo Barry run it out of defence really well. Also, our midfielders do a good job at stopping the ball from going to the defensive areas.

The problem lies in the contested marks inside defensive 50. If the mark is spoilt, there is a good chance that we will run it out. If crouchy gets back into his normal form, i think we will concede even less points.
Using hypothesis testing via confidence intervals:
Nick Davis mark inside 50 = goal

      Great effort considering no Dunkley!

I didn't think it likely at the beginning of the year and I am still amazed at how Bolton managed to stop the heavier, faster and taller Richardson. He displayed reamarkable concentration and discipline. I don't want to denigrate the efforts of the backline but a whole lot of praise must go to the midfielders who have made it difficult for the oppostion to get easy run into their forward line.

I would still like to see us get a goof CHB and FB.

I reckon our backline has done a magnificent job with no real stars in it. Schauble has been injured and we've missed Saddo the last few weeks. Kudos must go to C Bolton and Leo Barry, the run from defence has been great this year. Kennelly is learning about footy the hard way in defence, and he WILL GET BETTER!

Agree 100% with gunn that a good midfield can really help the guys down back (and also make our forwards look like superstars). The pleasing thing is that it's so even this year.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

History says premiership side has one of the top two defences.

Gotta be said fair bit of credit needs to go to the midfield who are very miserly
