    Dead eye Dicks

Or should that be Nicky -

Accuracy ladder up to end of Round 11.

    Sydney 61.4%
    Hawthorn 59.2%
    West Coast 57.1%
    Collingwood 56.0%
    Freo 55.9%
    Essendon 55.7%
    Western Bulldogs 55.6%
    Port Adelaide 55.1%

From what I have looked at quickly anything above 60% is unprecedented in the last 20 or so years.

Davis' 20 goals 4 points has helped of course but it has been catching.

SO, Leigh Matthews wrote a piece a few weeks back about this subject pretty much saying when (not if) the golden boots fall off for the Swans that will be end of the ball game for them.

What do you think?? Sheedy made a point on Sat. of saying the Swans only had one more possession for the whole game but we still womped them.

It's fantastic and has been the key to our success. There is no reason why accuracy can't be around the 60% mark. It's not as if 40% of passes in general play don't hit their mark. And the goals are what, 6.4m wide?

Should be relatively easy for a professional footballer... but for some reason it isn't. Except for Nick and his teammates of course...

I'd like to know what Essendon kicked in 2000. It felt like every set shot they had was a goal that year, too. Not only is it a confidence thing, I think it's a pressure thing. Makes a helluva difference when you know someone else will kick a goal if you miss.

Jon, Bombers in 2000 was still at 56.0%, as I said our 61% this year is totally unprecedented.

When you take out rushed behinds from the accuracy statistic, we have kicked 162.85 for 65.6% accuracy. Pretty amazing. And we have had a couple of ordinary games in front of goal this season too (Freo, Kangaroos).

          I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

56% There you go. They were freaks that year. But I'm sure they had far more opportunities at goal than we're getting this year. They were far less defence-orientated...more like West Coast this year. Daring other teams to have a free-running shoot-out.

When you consider how few times we're entering the fifty, you'd have to say our record will drop back over the next half year. Hell...it might not. But I'd be amazed.

My point is that the pressure on each individual goal-kicker is less as we've been having 8-10 goal-kickers almost every week.

looking at floppinab's list, you'd have to say the conversion percentages are up across the board.

If these guys are relying on us to start missing shots in front of goals as the only way for us to be beaten, well I can tell them that they should try and combat our run and effectiveness with the ball use rather than rely on things out of their control.
I think the main problem for oppostion coaches is how to shut down us getting the ball into the forward 50 in the first place, one telling stat from saturday night was how many marks we had inside forward 50 compared to essendon.
I think they are stumped - full credit to Roos.

Interesting if accuracy is the key to winning games than how the hell are the Hawkes second. Sour grapes more like it blind freddy can see its part of our plan but anyone who thinks thats the key alone is sadly mistaken.
