    Umpiring

Well I know we all think we are hard done by no matter what team we follow when it comes to umpiring, but what a shocker those canaries had last night...paying spilt marks to the bullies...and those deliberate out of bounds against us, but not paid when the bullies did EXACTLY the same thing. And again, BBBH, manhandled and never a free kick, just ones paid against him...thank goodness his anger management course is paying dividends...I'm riled by it, let alone him...
"Davis...Davis has kicked 2...he snaps from 40...dont tell me, dont tell me, hes kicked a goal....unbelievable stuff from Nick Davis, can you believe this, he's kicked 3 final quarter goals and Swans are within 3 points..."

I was also angered by then inconsistency of the umpiring.

Schauble's DOOB was a joke. What else could he do? Keep the ball under himself where he would be pinged for holding the ball?

I also saw Ball get collared right in front of me near the players box - but nothing.

As far as poor old BBBBH goes, he must be the hardest done by player in the comp. By contrast, watching Matthew Lloyd the other night was the exact opposite. Someone only has to infringe his hair gel and he is awarded a kick.

The canary in No2 is a pathetic excuse for an umpire.

I was really angry when he paid a 50 m againt Barry for well..being Barry Hall. What he said afterwards just confirmed my belief that the umpires will never award any sort of free to Barry Hall.

And they wondered why they are the most hated human beings on a football ground.

Well to the technical letter of the Unpiring Creed....it was a Dog's home game so the unps gave them all the frees.

Early in the last when the gave us the odd free, the count was still 18 to 11 to the Bullies.

There were some shocking decisions including Garlick getting away with taking 7 steps, getting tackled and then ball up!

The 50 against Bazza was an absolute joke. Happened right in front of us - he said about two words of a perfectly reasonable explanation about why the free shouldn't have been given, and before you knew it, the glow worm had called the 50. It was truly premeditated stuff from the ump.

I reckon these umps take into account BBBB's past record. But yeah, umpires dont always favour us.
Using hypothesis testing via confidence intervals:
Nick Davis mark inside 50 = goal

Big no no for an umpire to do that in a footy game.
Each game should be umpired on its merit.

I don't usually let the umpiring worry me, but it did seem particularly poor this week.

On the flip side, Essendon must be the umpires' darlings. They often seem to get what appears a dream run, even when not against us!

Absolutely right Mase but in that particular incident it was pretty clear that both the free (a pretty reasonable fend to the chest) and the subsequent words (9 times out of 10 that would go on without any action, how many times do you see a player going on for 5 or 10 seconds about a free with no extra 50) garnered *extra* attention
