Presumably Brisbane have shown their priority is to re-sign the likes of Lappin, Johnson, Power, Michael etc.

You don't need a manager to know that the best way of getting a better deal is to have legitimate interest from other clubs.

I'd be expecting the 'I'll probably stay - actually I think leaving might be the challenge I need - nah I can't see myself leaving' game to continue until his negotiations with Brisbane are finalised.

It's pretty brazen though to publicly state where you might go if/when the urge takes you.

Plugger - Matthews is not our softet

McPherson & Davis are definetly softies - maybe fozzie is on par with Ben

But I would certainly give up Mathews and 2nd round pick for Akermanis.

Doesn't Lethal like Seymour as well ?

Maybe we can dud the lions again when we got rid of Stefan Carey

          Disagree with majority view

I strongly disagree. As discuss in another thread we don't need one egomaniac to ruin the healthy chemistry in the team. Besides Akermanis hasn't got many years in him and seem past his best. I'd rather see a youngster developed. We have enough players with bad hairstyle on the team already.

Think TEAM, think LONG term not bandage solutions and second hand goods. Roos is on the right track.

Well, im kinda yes and no on this issue, but if he is coming, which looks positive at this stage, then bring it on!

Theres no point getting negative about it if he is coming, because we will all be supporting him.

Nick Davis mark inside 50 = goal

I don't know where this idea came about that Akker is just a looseball get player. He's the 2nd best tackler in the Brisbane team with 45 for the year. I think he actually lead the club last year...in a Premiership side. That's not the stat of a soft player. He doesn't just sit on the wing while others work. The versatility of those around him lets him move into space.

Granted his form is down. But he is still 6th for Disposals at Bris with 196 - not a mean feat - so although his "slump" in form does exist, he's coming off a pretty high standard in the first place. Pretty hard to lead his club stats when he's playing with Lappin, Black, Voss and Power.

I get the feeling we won't have to give away a player in the trade. Mathews is about to start turning over his list. He'd happily take a top pick. If it was a choice between convincing 4 of his superstars to stay on the list at well below their market value, and allowing one or two to walk away for draft picks...you'd think Lethal would jump at the chance.

wo. First one up this morning. That's a first. Oh well, just when we were going through some hypotheticals here on RWO, our club's braintrust shows they're pretty much doing the same calculations.

im with sid on this issue, ill be against it til he gets here... aker would be very handy, but the price will be too much... i reckon roos will play hard ball with the lions if anything looks like its going down... at the guernsey presentation night i reckon he mentioned about three times that this was the first year in a long time where we kept our first round draft pick...

we dont know what the talent looks like in the draft in the end... i really hope they make the right decision

46, does softness include taking a mark in front of a rampaging neitz??? noted that he is a receiver but he isnt soft... does softness also include stepping in for schauble against once again neitz when it looked like neitz was about to flatten schaubs???

go for mal michael i say!

He may do those few things Penga, but on the whole is is still soft. He is a pretty 'dumb' footballer, has a lot of brain explosions and lacks a lot in the skill department.

Why did you quote me when you replied? I never said he was loose-ball get player nor a soft receiver. I said he's more than a pure receiver. He doesn't dive into packs, but that's not the only way to get the hard ball. It was others who said he a receiver only.

You must be watching the wrong player!!! Lacks skills!?!?!? He's one of the most skilled and talented players in the comp.

This is how I see it:

                              Acker - Genious
                              Mathews - Useless
