    RLT maybe needs more time

Having watched him play over the last few weeks there is no doubting his potential but, IMO, he needs a lot more experience in the reseves before being considered a certainty for the starting 22.
I acknowledge his courage and he has good skills for a tall and raw recruit but he often seems confused, out of position and generally not 'footy experience'. We all know he really hasn't played much senior footy and i think another year in reserves is essential .In any case, why is he rucking?I don't think he has played in this position before in the Sydney competition.

I think we need him in the seniors, getting the experience, learning from Bally and Goodesy until Doyley gets back on deck.

It would only take for say Bally to be out for a week for us to need LRT and need him to be up to AFL speed.

If we had the luxury, I would agree he could get more game time in the ressies but he has the qualities to learn and just because he has the look of a kangaroo caught in the headlights, does not mean he is necessarily lost out there.

IMO I would like to see him ruck more - Dont know if he has done it before, but from what I have seen he has a huge leap and usually gets the tap - just needs to guide it to ground better and we may have a future replacement for Ball. - Shown more in the ruck ATM opposed to miecklejohn and doyle.

Actually, I'd like to see him swap with Meiklejohn so that he can get full games under his belt in the reserves, and also to see what Meiklejohn can offer.

I agreed. LRT needs some game time. Getting Meiklejohn for another spell of 2-3 weeks before Doyle is ready would do us fine.

I agree with Ugg I think it's time LRT to go back to the two's for a full run just to keep his fitness levels up, and it would be good to have another look at micklejohn before Doyle comes back

Encouraging Meiklejohn is important. He looked pretty classy in the reserves game. Unless he gets a few more senior games (and a decent amount of game time), he'd have to think he was tall #4 behind Ball, Doyle & LRT. I'm not sure what his contract is like, but there are a few clubs who will be looking for a new ruckman at the end of the year.... good job we let Mott go.
Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way you'll be a mile away and he'll be shoeless.

Mott was a wrestler not a footballer!

I thought he was a dud from about Rd 3 last year. We used what we had and we had to use him last year but he just did not cut the mustard.

The Don's game aside, he was waaaaay too slow, poor disposal and his ruck work was nothing more than just adequate.

If you needed hindsight to figure out we did not need Ricky this year then get your eyes checked. Even Freo have avoided him!

Freo haven't quite avoided him -- he's on their rookie list.
