The absolute keys are Adelaide, Brisbane and Collingwood...

Hate to state the obvious... but these games are all going to be FINALS for us.

I just went through the remaining matches for the 10 teams that are currently being looked at as potential finalists - Port through to Hawthorn. This is what I came up with:

Brisbane 17.5 wins (I can't see them losing again, although Port, Essendon and Collingwood will all test them.)

Port 17 wins (Losing only to Brisbane)

West Coast 16.5 wins (Losing only to Port)

SYDNEY 15 wins (Losing to Adelaide and Brisbane)

Collingwood 14 wins (Losing to Brisbane and US)

Kangaroos 13.5 wins (Losing to Brisbane, Adelaide)

Adelaide 13 wins (Losing to Fremantle, West Coast, Collingwood and the Roos)

Fremantle 12 wins (Losing to Collingwood, Sydney, Kangaroos, Essendon, West Coast)

Essendon 12 wins (Losing to Adelaide, Brisbane and Collingwood)

Hawthorn 10 wins (Losing to Brisbane, West Coast, Port Adelaide, US, Roos)

    HOWEVER.

A window of opportunity exists for us to win in Adelaide. The Crows will have been through a difficult three weeks... playing Essendon, visited Perth to play Freo and hosting a hopefully resurgent St Kilda. IF they are tired... we'll have had a much easier three weeks and I think we MAY beat them. That'd put us on 16 wins.

The Brisbane game... we won't win it, but obviously if we did it makes their maximum tally 16.5 wins, and if we win every other game, we'd go ahead of them.

In the likely event that these games don't go our way... the Collingwood game becomes crucial. It will decide a top 4 spot. The winner will probably have 15 wins... the loser 14. We NEED this game if we are going to have a shot at the flag.

Anyway... that's just the way I see it.

I like the way your thinking - however I'm with Roosy the next game is the most important and lets get over the Saints then worry about the following weeks one by one.

You can't do any more than win one game at a time.......

(Hopefully the one that realy counts is the last week in September....)

We should beat St Kilda and Hawthorn at the SCG

We should beat Carlton and Melbourne away - did you know that both of these teams play in Perth the week before

The realist in me chalks the Adelaide and Brisbane trips as losses

This leaves the Collingwood match as the most important match of the year. Will decide if we finish top 4. (although some believe finishing 5th is better). I'm all in favour of the second chance, so the higher the better.

      Bring it on!

I have got to agree with about the top 4, Bart. The more finals experience the team gets this year the better the future will be. Getting a run in few finals would be invaluable for the young guys.

my heart wants the doggies to get up this weekend against port, what would the odds be on that outcome?

that would put us in place for 2nd

You'd have to expect all teams above us to win this weekend (Adelaide-Bombers will be a ripper though)

Therefore if we win, we will be 3 games inside the 8 and a certainty for September.

I agree with that Charlie. I think the sleeper is Adelaide and reckon they will win a few games that you have down as losses.

Yep we will drop 2 more matches for the rest of the year, can't see us beating Adelaide and Brisbane. This may lead us to a top 2 spot.

Whoa nelly ! Lets just take a look at the next 3 games which we will start hot favourites for and should win comfortably - If we win those matches we will be on 12 wins and then can start to worry about how high up we can finish. If we drop 2 out of the 3 matches coming up we might not even make the finals! And each of the upcoming 3 games is a danger game.

I agree with Cheer Cheer, we shouldn't get ahead of ourselves. Let's wait and see how much "puff" our boys still have before making plans for September.
I hope they recover well after two difficult games they had against the Port and the Eagles.
