    Message to the Swans

    Message to the swans.

You may have noticed that there have been a number of complaints about the food sevice (not to mention cost ) at the SCG. Pies running out in one section, Beer in another ...ect..ect.
Well I am here to tell you that the service has sucked there for a long long time now , the people working it are often grumpy and the lines for beer or food move far too slowly.
I know this is the responsability of the SCG... But you better try and do somthing about it..... IE at least insist that there is enough food and beer for everyone.
Fickel crowds are affected by these kinds of services more than you might think !!

I haven't bought food at the SCG for a while!! The range, quality and pricing is terrible, as you mentioned. Normally we get food across at Fox Studios. It's just as expensive, but it's usually better

Have you tried emailing the club directly about this?

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

The SCG never seems to learn about how to handle footy games and always sets up as if it was a cricket match (read steady demand for facilities vs large peaks during the breaks). Larger crowds like we had on Sundy further exacerbate the problem

if you want to complain about food you try writing a letter to the catering company for the scg/sfs. i think it's eurest or something like that.

I have no problem with queuing for refreshments - I take my own.
And I avoid the beer because I go with my young son.
Anyway , you are restricted on the range of beer and it is overpriced.

My friend was told at half time that the pies were not hot and would not be ready for fifteen minutes .
If the caterers do not have the brains to have hot food on demand , I doubt they'll understand the need to improve any other aspects of the service.

Commercial imperatives will decide the issue - if the contactors are making enough profit and the demand - as evidenced by the big queues - is there , they won't change anything.
True though that this may have some effect on the size of the crowd , but would they care? I doubt it.

in the most part we take our own food. However there have been a couple of times when we've taken up the Pie and Coke deal. This is usually around noon, so we have no problem with queuing up or being supplied with hot pies. What we do have to deal with are the staff who don't know a thing about the $5.00 deal and try and charge you $16.00 for it. I don't know how many times we've had to explain it, only to be given a vacant stare in return.

I have a collegue who's son works at an auditing firm and they were going over the caterers books early in the year. I could be wrong but I believe the SGC Trust pay the caterers for their service based on sales. Apparently the reported quanities of food being sold was way off the actual figure. I'm not sure of the outcome, but I believe the SCG Trust were being overcharged. Perhaps that's why they can now afford to provide the coke and pie deal as cheaply as they do?
