Aftermatch change of venue - Carlton Game

AFTERMATCH FUNCTION SATURDAY 19TH JULY CHANGE OF VENUE

Please note a change in venue for the above function. We previously advised that this would be held at Flemington Racecourse, but the venue is now:

    BELLS HOTEL

    CNR MORAY AND COVENTRY STREETS

    SOUTH MELBOURNE

    Tel: 9690 4511

Wasn't this the place that is really small????

It's Pert Power's Melb base - You Me Cher some others watched a Bris game there a couple of years ago
You don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! You sit them in the front row. You give them a hat! Toby Ziegler

Really small and was so packed that if you got to the bar, you had to order in bulk. It would take ages to get another drink.

Why does this not surprise me.

Lea Miller is a joke, she just doesn't understand the nature and large size of the our supporter base down here. She didn't even try I bet to find a large place to hold it, just something that didn't require effort.

The sooner she is gone, the better
        Once was, now elsewhere

Thanks REggi , now I remember it,

Dr J I thought it was the same place you did, but that place was on Clarendon ST.

This place is bigger so it may turn out OK. The publican was really accommodating, I remember that much.

Flemington... South Melbourne... isn't the game in Carlton?

Why are these nominated places either right out of the way or across town? Doesn't make sense, especially if it's a pokey little @@@@hole.

Why not make it somewhere more central. I'm thinking CBD'ish here -- people can either P.T. or drive in (park in a garage), then catch a tram to & from Optus. Then there's heaps of suitably-sized, footy-friendly venues to choose from.

Just to name a few off the top of my head (with minimal help from the Melway):

#19 tram to Optus via Elizabeth St & Royal Parade:
            - The Stork
            - Mercat Cross (parking at Vic Market)
            - Public Bar
            - Ibis Hotel
            - The Fluid Ounce (cnr. Elizabeth & Franklin)

#1, 2 or 25 tram to Optus via Swanston & Lygon St
            - Queensberry Hotel
            - Canada
            - Young & Jacksons
            - Portland Hotel

C'mon people -- use your imaginations! Or is this already set in stone?

            Thoughts?

It was in the past mate. They meet at the Old Scholars on Elizabeth St these days.

Still having the Swans in its Melbourne heartland will be great. The pub is NOT large though, so try and get a decent spot.

Then off for pizza at Carlton again.YUM YUM!

All a publican needs to be to be accommodating is to keep the drinks flowing and flowing quickly. The rest will take care of itself.

Mmmmmm Beer. If you want me I'll be at Moe's

Moes... that's a fictional bar set in a fictional town in another country, right?

'Sounds like an appropriate place for Melbourne after-match functions.
