    Nicks & O'Keefe

Both of these players have been criticised and considered not good enough by people on this board. Well hopefully their performances tonight will shut you up.

O'Keefe is going to be a very good player and should be given maximum opportunity. He may have a quite game now and then, but what young player doesn't? His skills are exquisite.

Nicks is getting back to his best and will only get better. He is very dangerous when on song and adds a bit of class to our forward line. Yes he has had a lean patch, but that's football, the Swans stuck with him and he delivered.

I have always thought very positively on O'Keefe. He has a great overhead mark, quick runner and a pretty good kick. Always hard at the ball and does good damage on the foward line. No wonder Roosy is giving him a few chances.

Nicks did have a bad run at the start of the year but is getting back into form. Hopefully he will get back to his best form.

Nicks is trade bait to many types in his mould and you said it ROK needs max minutes.

Nicks still hasn't done enough this season for me to want to keep him.

He used to be my fav swan but has just not cut it this year.

I would be happy to trade him.

I would also be happy for him to make me eat my words, but one OK game doesn't make for a great season.

Too true, he has to keep it up to change people's minds, but last night he played the game he should be playing

I'm open to be convinced that he's still got what it takes, if he keeps improving... but I don't think anything will convince me that he'll ever be important to the side again... at the moment, he's merely a pinch hitting forward... and at 28, pinch hitting forwards don't add much value to the team. He's very, very tradeable, and an improvement would only increase his tradeable status.

28 year-old pinch-hitting forwards aren't very good trade-bait either. I don't think we'd get anyone useful in a trade for him. Reading what the Swans players say, he is a pretty funny and popular guy, maybe an important part of the glue that builds a good team from a set of individuals. Whilst that shouldn't give him an automatic spot on the team, it does increase his value to the club.

When I see how dysfunctional some of the other teams are, I think that we must either have good team dynamics or a bloody good press officer who squashes the nasty stories.

I agree with Charlie - I don't think Nicks been good enough this year, and I was glad to read that Nicksy himself agreed (I think he described his own play as ****house ) and that he played better yesterday.

So was Ryan Fitzgerald and we traded him, although the poor guy was chronically injury prone.

Nick's improved form is a real plus. If he keeps getting better it just allows us another forward/onballer to worry about.

By the way Ryan Fitzgerald was overrated by a lot of Swans fans.

If he didn't take the mark, and he dropped plenty which was his main problem, he was pretty useless on the ground.

Was never going to be a big part in our future, even if fit. The club knew that and got rid of him.

Nicksy will be good value when the heat is on come finals time. Unlike a lot of the guys he's been there before. He's got a pretty good temperament and I think he accepts the lesser role he now plays.
Even though it's difficult to see him there next year it is about team dynamics. Whether by design or just good luck we've hit upon the right mix of 24 or 25 guys who fit together in the jigsaw. And Nicksy's in that group.
i don't think he'll be trade bait unless it includes other players as well.

The more matches he plays the better he's going to get. I for one, can't wait to see him have a long and distinguished career in Sydney. And yes Roscoe, this time I am speaking with my heart.

O'Keefe has been great. Nicks is going to need to do more on a weekly basis if he wants to be guaranteed to play finals. You'd have to think he was trade-bait. BTW, did anyone else the "Where's Frosty?" banner. I nearly bogged myself.
