    Leo Barry

I've been a constant knocker of Leo, but I must acknowledge how well he is going, mainly for the benefit of Roscoe and Penga.

Whilst I'm not his greatest fan, he is giving us a fair bit at the moment, a lot more than he ever has before. I don't think he is turning the footy over as much as he used to either.

    Good stuff Leo.

Thanks Plugger, glad you can finally see the benefit of Leo.

Now all I need to do is convince you of the value of Ben Matthews.

He can give me then @@@@s taking so long to dispose of the ball, but he does a great job as a "sweeper" across the backline and he is excellent at the stoppages.

Sorry I won't give any ground on your mate Rowan Warfe. He is

On this year's form surely you must be kidding?!

I think Mathews has turn around his form markedly wheras Warfe has just bumbled along.

Warfe is a has been player and will follow McPherson out of the club at the end of the season. They are of no value to us and we can do better in their positions within the club already

I am a betting man, but there's not a chance I'll be eating humble pie, with regards to Mathews. Leo does give us something, Warfe is hard at the footy, Mathews is just a soft receiver.

Leo is going well, but I will never ever rate Mathews.

You can quote me on that if I do, as well Penga.

                    He's finished 6th (I think, maybe 5th) and 3rd in the past two years so you're a brave lad/lass P46.

However, much as I rate Mathews as a valuable, consistent member of the team, I don't think he's on target to finish quite that highly this year. He could well squeeze into the lower reaches of the 10 however.

P46 - what exactly COULD Mathews do to gain your approval? And don't post some vague garbage about "going hard at the footy". Be specific.

I will step in for P46 here, I think a good start for Mathews would be to actually get the ball. If he is, as so many think, a very good sweeper across half back, he should be getting a lot more possesions then he is currently. I see him as a very average AFL player who would struggle to gain a start in the majority of the other sides. If it wasn't for Tony Lockett suggesting that he thought Mathews was a player of the future and that he would like him to wear the No. 4, then I am certain he would of been delisted or traded by now.

Mathews is 6th on the Swans possessions list, averaging 17.3 per game. That's quite a healthy number.

I'm sure what Plugger thinks wouldn't affect which players we retain. God help us if it did.

If Ben Matthews gets too many possessions it may show that our mid field is down or we are losing it out of the centre.

About 6th for an average of 17/18 is about where I would expect him to be.

                            Enough said.

He isn't my favourite player, but he is certainly doing his job, and I thought we missed him against Wet Toast .

17 disposals a game is a perfectly good effort... especially in a team like the Swans, who don't use it overly much. It's not that uncommon for Jude or Willo to be our highest posession getter with 22 disposals, while the opposition has 3 guys with 25+.
