Big Boo Boo at Optus Oval Today.

RE - The theme song they play in melbourne when they run out on the ground through the banner -

They usually play Cheer Cheer the Red And The White.

Today they played Up There Cazaly!!

We havent heard that in Melbourne for many many years IIRC.

I thought that song is dead an buried!?

Do they still play that song in Sydney folks??

    NOT HAPPY JAN!

ABC radio commented on this and one of the guys said that the team has a hoodoo about playing cheer cheer before a game in Melbourne, so they do Up There .... I haven't noticed it before, so I have no idea if this is correct ... Just reporting what was said.

Well, the superstition thing was raised a few years back when "up there" was used before games, but cheer cheer was so well received when it was re-introduced that I thought they kept it. I think it depends on the particular ground. I know both grounds in Sydney play cheer cheer, and I know for certain that the MCG played cheer cheer before the Hawthorn game earlier in the year.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

They specifically said it was games in Melb ... but maybe it is specifically Optus Oval?

            NOT HAPPY EITHER!!!

I know that Optus doesn't hide it's Carlton bias on the scoreboard etc, but to play a song that isn't our theme song is insulting. I was not impressed!!!

I don't think it's right either Charlie but there were more important things today to be unimpressed about. Like 2nd half fadeouts and BH's temper.

Trust me... I agree absolutely. As SR4E can testify... I was not a happy customer at all during the fourth quarter!!!

                  Don't be too offended.

At least they played a song that is recognised as having some relevance to Sydney.

Hawthorn ran out onto OO earlier this year with Melbourne's song blaring.

They probably do it on purpose! What better way to annoy the Hawks fans but to remindthem of the aborted merger? Or Swans fans that their club almost forgot them?

AT least it's not as bad as one of the North Melb home games in Sydney when they played the dance remix of cheer cheer!!

Now THEM's was some horrible times.

Hmmmm, wasn't there some posts about doing something similar at Footy Park in Adelaide for the Port game.
Maybe it is being done by the club.

yes i contacted the club about this and they said they would fix it at AAMI... obviously didn't check the other grounds which i asked them to do

let's all contact the club to ensure the proper club song (the traditional one that is currently played at the SCG by the fable singers - not the shocker recorded in the 90s that has incorrect wording) is played at ALL grounds around Aus BEFORE and (hopefully) after the game

'Up There...' goes down like the proverbial lead balloon
"As a player he simply should not have been able to do the things he did. Leo was a 185cm, 88kg full-back and played on some of the biggest, fastest and best full-forwards of all time, and constantly beat them." Roos.
Leo Barry? you star! We'll miss ya, ''Leapin''.

But what about "Dare to be a Bear", which we all sung at the Ansett Cup when Brizzie won?!

Or even worse, when Australian played Israel in soccer back in the early 90s. The song they played over the tannoy....(wait for it)................................. "Deutschland Deutschland ueber alles")

Will somebody be contacting the Crows/SANFL/Aami Stadium trust to ensure we get the right version in a couple of weeks?
