    Davis, you are a freak

There's no doubt he's got that attitude that doesn't often sit well in a team environment but it also has the ability to produce goals like that in the last quarter to effectively kill off opposition with their brazenness, and leave the rest of us open mouthed.

    Simply awesome

Let's not forget that before the goal it was Davis' slow turn - then lazy hospital pass to Cressa that had just squandered a scoring opportunity. Lucky i'm not coach cos i would of dragged him then

I like the way Davis has been pushing up the ground a bit more - his great skills do come in useful. He tends to be a bit selfish near goals, but I don't mind that. IMHO has the goal-sense to make a lot of those count, and we need a player or two who will just load up and go for it (instead of not having the confidence to try for a shot and trying to hand off to someone else.)

IMO also ND has been tackling, chasing and working a lot harder than in his first few weeks at the club.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

Dr J may want to make mention about Nicks attitude, he had a bit of a laugh with him at the aftermatch.

Totally Cresswell's fault. He just stood there waiting for a chest mark which allowed the scum player to knock the ball clear from a front-on position.

If he so much as put his arms in the air and jumped a millimetre off the ground it was a regulation free kick when the scum player would have been forced to make contact with him.

I think David King's goal from 60 of the ground will pip nickys - by about 25 mtrs to be exact.

I think Nicks one had more skill involved though.
He sort of had to kick it at right angles as he was running across the face of goal, whereas as david king was running straight at goal, so its hard to spit the two imo.

King's goal was a fluke. He kicked it from the middle of the ground and it just happened to bounce through. Of course there was a strong element of luck in Davis' goal as well and it will annoy me greatly if any goal like that wins "Goal of the Year". You see many more week in week out where there is little luck involved, just sheer skill, and those are the ones that should be rewarded IMO, even if they're not quite as spectacular.

Well, I was at the game where King kicked that goal, and I'm telling you, there was very little luck involved. It was a VERY deliberate stab at goal... he knew what he was doing.

Nicks goal steadied the ship. It stopped the comeback dead in it's tracks.

Well I agree with charlie that it was no fluke.
I also agree with Lizz that I would rather see different sorts of goals to that which would win goal of the year like ahmats for example.

Maybe "fluke" was the wrong word. I've seen the goal many times and agree that it was his intention to kick it through for a goal. But there are so many things that can happen to a ball when it travels that far and needs to bounce to go through that there was a very strong element of luck involved.

Much prefer the goals where someone weaves their way through traffic or runs the length of the ground before slotting it through, or kicks a snap from a very tight angle.
