If he wants to keep his place in the side imo, he better perfect the art of being a link man because imo thats all he can really add to our side.
He cant really play forward all that well, same for a running defender, and he cant get the hard ball like jude an co.
However he does have silky skills and he is a good person to give the ball to , to deliver the ball around the ground.
When Roos took over half way through last season he put Fosdike on the wing and pretty much left him there. He did very well, using his pace and skills to deliver the ball forward.
This year he's been playing far more in-and-under than most people seem to realise. That's partly why he's not being noticed as much, because possessions in space invariably are more obvious to the observer.
He's fifth on the club's tackling list, just one behind Williams and ahead of players like Maxfield and Cresswell (even allowing for relative number of games played). He's also 6th in total disposals.
I think Fosdike can perform better than he has been. In particular I think he's suffering a little from the Jude syndrome of the last couple of years in that he seems to be trying a bit too hard and often rushing his disposals. He also plays quite loose from his man sometimes and we've been hurt by his opponents on occasion (eg I think he was on Daniel Kerr in the second half of the Weagles game). But he's been a generally consistent contributor without really getting any accolades. He's certainly shown he can be more than a receiver.
