This would be a first, todays Herald Sun

Middle page insert is entirely of the Swans, a classic picture of Adam Goodes on his head.

Pity there is stuff all in the Sydney press.

This time 2 years ago we would have been consistent back pagers on the Terror but it seems as though the ex-league (as someone posted earlier) playing editor is having none of that.

You would think that 2nd on the ladder and BBBBH being reported would be enough but obviously not.

Even in the drive time sports wrap on 2ue tonight at about 5pm-not a cracker. They mentioned League, Ra-Ra, basketball, golf, netball, swimming and even F1 but NO FOOTY! It's a discrace and a bloody conspiracy.

          Its a joke really,
The AFL need to pay top dollar to acquire a enough coverage and publicity in sydney for the profile of the game to continue. The team it's self can do no more than they are doing , IE winning games.

When I went to Sydney for the game against St. Kilda, I wore my footy clothes the next day to see how many Sydneysiders would notice that I'm an AFL fan. I'm happy to report that about 75% of the comments that I received were about AFL and not rugby league. Also, on the night of the game, loads of people asked what had happened in the game and had a genuine interest. So the interest is there, the media just has to cover the AFL better. When I saw middle page insert of the Swans, I was suprisingly shocked but happy that finally the Swans are getting media notice in Melbourne.

AFL coverage in both the northern states is pathetic - from news stories to the times they show the games on TV. Doesn't the AFL realise that until football gets proper coverage the game's not going to take off the way they want it to. The Swans and the AFL need to put their heads together and come up with a better strategy for getting media coverage.

In the meantime, Sydney fans should email 2UE, the Telegraph, Channel 10, etc and let them know your disgust, tell them you wont listen to their radio show, buy their paper, and so on. (And email your praise whenever they do something right). If the media thinks there's AFL interest out there and readers want to read about the Swans then they will improve their coverage, after all they're businesses that want to maximise their profits.

One thing 2UE does do right is every Friday they have coaches corner . and Paul Roos is usually on. Steve Price is a Richmond fan but he always gives Roosy a good hearing

I agree on the 2UE stuff, I've called a couple of times to talk about the swans and Steve Price has always accepted teh call, once he made me wait 30 minutes, but he put me on with the sports report just before 7am ... so it made it a big call ... I think he's always given a fair go to the Afl.

Non-ALF following sydney siders do seem to care if the Swans are doing well, even if they rarely watch a game.

Very true. I love it when I'm walking to the game and they ask me if the Swannies won

Totally agree, I emailed the Daily Telegraph last week regarding the Herald Sun and Adelaide Advertiser's Footy Fans survey pointing out the fact that both papers stated that the surveys were the most comprehensive of football fans ever undertaken. I pointed out that it was a shame that the people of NSW and QLD weren't asked for their feedback.

Anyway the response from the sports editior at the Tele was favourable. The voices of footy fans in NSW apparently do count at the Telegraph. The editor said he was going to tweak with the questions and it should be in the Tele and on their website sometime this week. Still have not seen it as yet, hope he wasn't telling lies.

I usually get asked 3 or 4 times on the way back to Central about how the boys went. I've been proud to dish out the good news lately.
