    O'Loughlin a Swan for Life

    Go Micky!
You don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! You sit them in the front row. You give them a hat! Toby Ziegler

It doesn't quite wrap him up for life... but it does wrap him up until he can go on the vet's list... so it's effectively the same thing. Great to hear.

A four-year contract keeps him at the Swans until he is 30, so you can assume that Micky will stay at the Swans. I'm so happy for him and it will be great to see what Micky can do in the next four years.

4 years is a pretty long time, If his goal is to stick with one team, then thats his goal. Lets worry about these 4 years, not after it.

            Wooo Hooo!!!

            Thats excellent news.

Why would he want to go elsewhere anyway? If he wants a premiership, Sydney is the place to be. A bright future ahead.

            Onya Magic!!

Dont get me wrong it is great news he resigned but is anyone else worried about the length of the contract.
I was listening to Essendons president last night of talking footy saying it was crazy for any signing of long terms contracts at the moment because of the upcoming footy TV rights coming up for grabs, and currently I believe the rights went for 100 million but if they go for 70 million next time for example than there is less money alround for clubs and their salary caps, thus if I'm not sure if micky is signed past the next footy rights bid, but if he is then this may be a another case of mis-management / administration by the swans, which may cost us a good player or three - ala essendon.

The tv contract thing is an issue....but signing a player like Magic for 4 yrs shouldn't be. There's been a lot of talk about clubs getting burned by offering long contracts to marginal players, or players at the end of careers, and that IS a big risk, as you might end up with a non-contributing player sucking the cap dry.

Mick isn't one of those players. He's a genuine star and you only have to look at our performances with him out of the side to see his impact. The other thing to consider is that in Sydney, the conditions are a little differnet. We really need to maintain longevity out of our quality listed players. Things can go pear-shaped pretty quickly in this town.

Plus he's still young. I think longterm contracts are more problematical when you're offering them to 29 yr olds, than 26 yr olds.

I can't see it being a problem at all.

If the report is accurate it merely seems to be a bit of a compromise deal. Instead of paying (for example) $1.2m for 3 years, Micky has accepted $1.4m for 4.

So in effect we are getting an extra year for $200K. And with our current room under the TPP cap, they'll probably be doing the opposite of all other clubs and 'front-load' the deal so that they're only paying a max of perhaps $300K in 2006/07.

Hope he doesn't get tagged "enigmatic" and injury luck improves.
I am surely not alone in feeling we still have not seen the best of this terrific player and a "great bloke" as well.

Its not like we are signing him to a 5 year - $500,000 per year contract, like Essendon did, for Mercuri.

Good on him, loyalty is an awesome thing to see. Obviously knows a premiership beckons at the SFC

Hopefully it is as good as the Lynch deal for the lons
                          - Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in a world they've been given, than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact, it's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration, it's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing!
