    O'Keefe Out

According to a line in the SMH Barry Hall article.

Bummer, I've really been enjoying his play over the last three weeks or so. You can almost smell the respect that he gets now just from the way the commentators don't need to comment on him anymore.....he's just another dangerous player the opposition would not like to see with the ball in our forward line.

    Who will come in?

Warfe was not on the emergency list last week (and is not a match anyway) so I would have to suggest Ablett who seems to be in top form for the twos.

I would like to see Powell in for Nicks but I know that won't happen.

Or maybe Roos is ready to give Thewlisor Malceski a go?

Maxi to be tested (according to HUN) so I'd suggest he won't be right either as he apparently didn't train yesterday.

Shame to lose him but will probably give Ablett a chance, which isn't a bad thing.

Which brings us to who our (minimum) four players will be to be delisted/retired at year's end.

        Warfe
        Nicks
        Seymour
        MacPherson
        Cresswell

Would be my picks...but Warfe and Seymour have a year on their contracts if memory serves.

What about Nicks? (contract I mean)

It would be a real waste to throw away Ablett and Stevens, however we might be able to trade player for player for someone like Steven Greene (very talented Hawthorn midfielder out of favour at the moment)

Can't see how we can give Buchanan another two years unless he is really showing something in the twos.

That's a pretty short list of young players with question marks.
From all accounts the 2002 draft picks are 4 for 4 in terms of potential (plus James, Meiklejohn, Crawford and McGlone from rookie list)

Now if Hunt could get a taster this year.....

Adds up to an exciting time to be a Swans fan.

I like the fact that there are two outstanding NSW midfielders who sound like just the sort we want (Potter and Daly)

As for getting Playfair (this one for you, Charlie) I noted that Thompson mentioned him in the same breath as Kelly, Corey and Ablett the other day.....so no chance.

My nominations to get delisted at the end of the year:

Doyle - he is ok but way too injury prone. We don't need another Ryan Fitzgerald on our list. We haven't had a lot of luck with our talls over the years from Gavin Rose to Stefan Carey to Ryan O'Conner to Brett O'Farrell.

B'OF probably wishes he stayed with us.

Does John Ironmonger have a boy we could take under father/son?

Frosty - Interesting one. He is gone for sure as Roos will not play him. Only question is - why didn't the Swans do a Capuano and put a rookie on the list. Shame that his career has stalled so suddenly. Much maligned, he did give us good service.

Warffe and Seymour - Again both too injury prone and too old.

Cresswell - Cressa has hinted he has gone but also now that he might stay. Not sure.

Stevens - Again, what is the point of having someone on our list who never plays.

SPEWING!!!! Hope he's right for the following match.

I think Nog will come up if Stuart's not ok.

Sad to see the young player forced out. Hes been playing real confidently in the forward line. Has a great overhead mark, very quick on the ground and a pretty good kick too.

I dont know our rookies too well but i would like to see a young forward pocket player who is the same size as O'Keefe.
Using hypothesis testing via confidence intervals:
Nick Davis mark inside 50 = goal

                  Just a few comments:

                  1) Seymour will stay. He has been a very integral part of the Swans lineup for many years, and he still isnt really that old. Its not like he's failed to prove himself this year when given the chance, such as Warfe. He hasnt had a chance due to injury. Look at Jason Ball - out for all of last season, now look at him. No-one expects Snapper to have the same impact that Ball does, but the Swans lack a really strong defense at the moment, so I reckon he still fits in Roosy's strategy.

                  2) Nicks. Surely people have seen a big improvement from him in the last 2 weeks, both up forward, finally kicking a few, and then down back steadying the ship in the 2nd half against Carlton, when others such as Saddo were making absolute fools of themselves. I have always thought that Nicks is much better on the half back line than up forward. He has a good footy brain, and looks far better and more in control when in defense. Plus we have enough forward options at the moment.

                  3) Doyle. How can people say they are keen for Heath James to stick it out for endless seasons, but at the same time call for Doyle to go? I want to see James get a chance as much as the next guy, but Doyle has actually proven himself a very dangerous weapon for us when he's played. There is no arguing that Doyle would step immediately into the starting lineup the minute he's fit.

Doyle is too fragile for League footy. Not sure how you could refute this.

NO WAY would we delist Doyle!
He'll be with us for a while yet I hope.
Definately a future star and imho i think he will get over his injuries.
Along with James will be playing some sort of thing at the MCG come the last saturday in September, and I think they will be holding up whats called.....um....... yes thats it..., Premiership Cup!!!!!!

                      We can dream, can't we?

While Goodes is our 3rd tallest player, I can't see Doyle being delisted.

Heath James to make his long awaited comeback in the grand final. Yep, its that sort of year.

                              My opinion is the same.

It was a tragedy that guys like Wade Chapman had his career cut short because he was too courageous for his own good.

Heath James is not doing anyone any good if he never gets on the park.
