    Well done swans!

I thought we had you there for a bit but you were too good in the end. Good luck for the rest of the season.

Cheers Ripper. I reckon that Freo and Sydney will be comrades in arms in September - conspiring to wipe the smile off Eddie's face.

Good luck to you guys as well. You fought hard, made us fight harder than I thought we'd have to.

Freo kept coming at us, and if you'd done better around the rucks or kicked straighter it would have been a different result. Dockers will still make the finals (I think they could even win their last five games) and once in the finals I hope they go well.

We have the same problem as you blokes, Getting respect . But we are not as bad as most PPL think. I cannot for the life of me understand how the Ogre didn't play today.

In the latter part of the second quarter, and especially in the third, Freo were playing Sydney's own brand of footy - confident handballing out of defence and running all over the ground. I haven't seen enough of Freo this year to know whether that's how they normally play but they were certainly impressive and I thought they had the Swans measure.

Even at the start of the final term our guys body language looked ordinary and I believed we were going to lose. While it's nice that they had such a tough game and were able to win it, they can't rely on a couple of such short bursts to win them games.

Mitigating factor was the loss of Ball and having no LRT to provide any sort of ruck support to Goodes. We certainly missed him running at will around the ground as he usually does.

Ogre = Sandilands? He would've made a difference in the ruck, but maybe the Freo coaching staff were worried about his mobility, especially matched up with Goodes.

No doubt in the 3rd quarter the team plan went out the window.

Chasing kicks into the forward line and weak efforts holding the ball in on the forward line, meant Feo were able to kick to unmarked players in the centre and run it to one out contests.

Ordinary stuff that Roos berated them for at the break.

Also our kicking into the forward line was blind, with kicks falling short or going to Freo players.

The reverting to the long game in the last quarter really broke open our forward line and gave Hall, Stevens, Micky and Schnides heaps of room and one out contests. One of our best quarters of the season from a purests point of view.

Freo still match up against anyone in the league. They'll be there in the last two weeks of the season. Pavlich is the type of player to take a finals series by the scruff of the neck. I wouldn't fancy playing them away from the SCG.

Onya, Ripper. Bad luck today - I have a lot of respect for the dockers this year - IMHO very promising youngsters, and gee it looked like you were about 2 foot taller on average than our team all over the ground!

Very entertaining game of footy, very free flowing, but I STILL HATE THOSE CLOSE ONES!!

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

                    Thanks Ripper.
It was nip and tuck , just what I was expecting.
Fremantle gave us the toughest home game since we played Adelaide way back in round three.

And we had a great "craic" with the Freo fans in Bay 7 -
especially that bloke who was a ringer for Rex Hunt.

He was definitely amusing!!! The woman supporting Freo in the front row of Bay 7 - if her voice was any shriller, only dogs would have heard it!

                      I'm on the Chandwagon!!!
