Some interesting points to come out of the game:

*After 1st quarter, 18 goals to 8 were kicked to the Randwick End.
Dockers screwed up in first quarter by only kicking two to what would prove to be the scoring end.

*Swans are now 10-0 in 2003 when leading at 1/2 time.

*Brett Kirk had more possessions than Peter Bell (18-15) and kicked three goals to nil. If he keeps this up, could be in Brownlow contention and/or take votes away from Goodes.

*Jared Crouch also has to be applauded for keeping Jeff Farmer to 9 touches, 1 mark and kicking 0.0.

Definitely agree that Crouch was a bit of an unsung hero today. We've got used to Kirk shutting down an opponent and it came as no surprise that Bell was kept quiet (except that I expected him to line up on Hasleby!). But I was so caught up in the game that it wasn't until the end that I realised how little influence Farmer had had. Nice one Jared!

By the way, who was playing on Hasleby? I've watched the game twice now - once live and once on TV courtesy of the video - and still haven't worked it out. Mathews maybe? Or Fosdike? Whoever it was did another very effective stopping job.

The way I saw it, Mathews had Headland. It didn't seem anyone really had the job on Hasleby.

I think you guys are being are looking at it through your red and white eyes which we are all guilty of.
The way I saw it headland and haselby just had off days. Obviously with Bell being tagged, Roos wasnt going to tag the whole midfield, maybe run with roles, but definately not negating from what I saw.

I hardly remember seeing farmer with the ball. Crouchy i think did an excellent job on him.

Bell is a great possession getter and i think kirk got the better of him at the start of the game. It was a great job by our taggers. But i dont think the taggers can take away the good chance of Goodes getting the brownlow.

Almost every player will have a designated opponent at any time, although some will be given more licence than others to play wide of them, particularly while your team is on top. But other than the "spare men in defence", as I see it, your accountable for how much of the ball your opponent gets and how damaging he is. Maybe Hasleby did just have a bad day at the office but this is a guy who regularly racks up 25+ possessions and sometimes over the 30 mark. Whichever player(s) were running with him must take at least part of the credit for that.
